A group who was recently mourning the loss of a loved one chose to have their funeral reception at a seafood restaurant after the service.
However, most of the party chose to leave without paying after racking up a bill of over $500.
Not only that, but one woman threatened to shoot a restaurant staff member.
A group of 20 people recently walked out on their $542 tab at Crazy Cajun Seafood in Houston, Texas.
The members of the funeral party were allegedly unhappy with the 20% gratuity charge added to their bill, as most restaurants add the tip when the party’s over a certain number of people.
Most everyone walked out amicably. However, one woman was caught on camera threatening to shoot restaurant staff members.
There was no initial retaliation, however, the group seemed to have gotten away with dining and dashing, as a video of the incident shows zero police involvement.
Those who have seen the viral moment on TikTok have commented on the dine and dash story, saying, “And people wonder why servers hate waiting on certain tables. It’s because they know.”
Do i REALLY need to look?
NOT FUNNY....THEY KNOW THEIR CLIENTELE!
Reparations
Houston. Seafood (crab legs?). Dine and Dash.
Yep. Sounds like them Amish again. Drat them.
GET REal...TIPPING is here to stay.
Nope, SOS different day but same group.
Any guesses?
Don’t know about that
First time I went to Switzerland first meal out there I left a tip with my payment. Waiter picked up my payment. His eyes got wide and then he said to me You must be American. Tip is included. Here’s your extra money
Later he said if all customers tipped the way I did he would prefer to be tipped. Told him I appreciate good food and good service
> Canadians!
>> No. More likely, an Amish wake.
18 paid their part according to the article. So no 20 people did not walk out on their hill. The truth wouldn’t get so many clicks though
Houston.
Seafood.
Cajun.
Dine and dash.
Say...no...more...
“Is it them, Yogi?”
“It’s always them, Boo Boo.”
Stereotypes are driven by learning from experience. It may not be 100 percent correlation. But it is often enough to make an impression.
They had probably already maxed it out on booze.
Reparations are being taken one theft at a time.
Okay, but be prepared to pay 20% more for you meal.
It is not tip when you are forced to pay it regardless of the quality of service. It is a fee not a tip. And it is dead wrong. Applebees and Denny’s do not do this. I have yet to eat anywhere that does this. So no- Most restaurants do not do this. I would be ticked too. I would refuse to pay that fee unless I was aware of it to begin with.
Boomlakalaka!
Something about large parties makes peole cheap. One server said she had a large party with a $300+ check leaver her a $10 tip (this was over 20 years ago).
Yes, IF all customers tipped like you. But he can’t rely on everyone being a good tipper. He’d encounter plenty of cheapskates like the ones in this funeral party.
I guess the systems even out in the end.
