A group who was recently mourning the loss of a loved one chose to have their funeral reception at a seafood restaurant after the service.
However, most of the party chose to leave without paying after racking up a bill of over $500.
Not only that, but one woman threatened to shoot a restaurant staff member.
A group of 20 people recently walked out on their $542 tab at Crazy Cajun Seafood in Houston, Texas.
The members of the funeral party were allegedly unhappy with the 20% gratuity charge added to their bill, as most restaurants add the tip when the party’s over a certain number of people.
Most everyone walked out amicably. However, one woman was caught on camera threatening to shoot restaurant staff members.
There was no initial retaliation, however, the group seemed to have gotten away with dining and dashing, as a video of the incident shows zero police involvement.
Those who have seen the viral moment on TikTok have commented on the dine and dash story, saying, “And people wonder why servers hate waiting on certain tables. It’s because they know.”
Canadians!
I’m sure it was those Amish people again
It’ll slowly come the way they do it in Europe; you pay up front first and if problems they’re resolved after.
If l had to bet.
Are pictures needed?
They could have used the dead fellow’s credit card.
LOL "certain tables', yep, 10-4 roger that.
Habs?
They probably maxed it out for breakfast.
I’ve been to countries where payment before hand is required. Funny thing, they were black countries.
Nope. There might be some half breeds in the mix.
Mostly obese, cocoa butter people.
That was theft, but why should anyone get handed an additional $85.00 bill on top of what the dinner cost.
When you go to a business the cost should be the cost, tipping needs to disappear.
Black privilege and black supremacy. Uppity sh*t.
Author has a problem with English: “ ... only 18 chose to pay their part of the bill.”
You’ll pay it anyway in the prices. In countries where tipping isn’t the rule, the restaurant staff are paid a much higher wage.
That would be a solution.
In defense of the indefensible, I have also had the experience of being in a large party where the server “knew” she was getting an automatic gratuity, so she was less than diligent with her service. We had to call the manager and have the gratuity removed from the bill.
But that is no excuse for theft.
They add the tip to the total because backward like these would leave zero otherwise
I don’t mind tipping, because you have the option to tip less or even nothing for poor service.
I was trained to always tip 20 per cent for good service; I can only remember once when I received really poor service.
