A plane attempted an emergency landing at a Texas airport before it crashed through a fence and plowed into a car on the busy highway nearby.
The spectacular crash happened around 12.30pm Saturday near Aero Country Airport in McKinney. Miraculously, neither the two people in the plane nor the single individual in the car involved suffered serious injuries.
According to McKinney Fire and the Federal Aviation Administration, a pilot flying a single-engine Lancair IV-P Propjet attempted an emergency landing, narrowly missing the end of the runway.
'I looked over and saw a bunch of smoke come out from the tires,' said Jack Schneider, a pilot and aerospace engineer who witnessed the crash.
Schneider, who drove from Kansas to McKinney to pick up a jet, recorded the moment the plane barreled through a fence at the end of the runway.

That will buff right out /s
Busy highway? Doesn’t look like it.
Aviation Ping!....................
So, what do the police call this?
A plane crash or a car wreck?
Insurance companies don’t usually cover plane crashes............................
Dad, an airplane just crashed into my car!
“attempted an emergency landing”
“ATTEMPTED”? Nope, the pilot MADE an emergency landing. “Attempt” ended when the tires hit the tarmac.
Authoress Mackenzie Tatananni flunked The Queen’s English?
Imagine the driver of the car calling his wife or her husband or mom & dad — “I’ve got some bad news. I was just in an accident. Yeah, the other ‘driver’ is OK and I’m ok.”
Those are real slippery and fast airplanes, not easy to slow down. the ones we have here at KWHP fly a box pattern at pattern altitude to lose their airspeed when coming in from the pass.
Curses! Airfoiled again.
What are the 3 most useless thing to a pilot?
It’s a good landing. Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing.
I used to ride my bicycle on that road, FM 546. Looks like the runway has been extended. Too busy to ride on now
Airspace above, Runway behind and Fuel trucks on the ground.
“Insurance companies don’t usually cover plane crashes............................”
?????
The plane was most likely insured for at least liability, and the car owner’s insurance would cover any uninsured damage to the car. I’ve never seen anything in any of my automobile policies that excluded damage by aircraft.
Might be too busy for Southwest to add as a feeder airport…
I was just thinking the same thing.
Some possible Exclusions:
Aircraft insurance policies typically exclude coverage for intentional acts or criminal activities, such as using the aircraft to transport illegal goods or intentionally causing damage.
Some policies may exclude coverage for certain types of damage or loss, such as wear and tear or mechanical breakdown.
Pilot error: Some policies may exclude coverage for damages or losses caused by pilot error or negligence. War or acts of terrorism may also be excluded from coverage.
