Remove qualified immunity are force police to be bonded/insured. That will make a third party decide if officers are insurable enough to deal with citizens. I am tired of police treating the citizens like enemy combatants and they are the conquering heros.

I AGREE! This way, when cops make "an honest mistake" it will be the insurance company paying for those court costs and claims, instead of the family of the beaten/killed victim bearing their own money towards their own court-ordered rewards!

You gonna give the cops some attitude? That’s 10 years in jail.

Cops already have too much power.

find a better way.

Actually they are bonded and these can be chased. But very few know about the surety bonding standard.

More need to know, more need to chase these bonds and things will change.

Not a death penalty offense.

No one got the death penalty here. The grandmother made a poorly advised decision that cost her her life.

Suicide by cop is a more accurate description of the facts.

Not allowed to shoot someone fleeing if they are only wanted for fleeing or a minor offense. Settled law.

If she was driving at the officer or pulled a gun, that is one thing and would be suicide by cop. This was a poor decision on the officers part that should result in consequences the same as us little people would receive.

See post 8. All 50 states have similar laws that allow and permit cops to use deadly force if a suspect attempts to flee.

And courts have allowed such laws.

Not all LEO agencies adhere to these laws. And you may not like or agree with them.

But they save lives. The officers on the street. And untold thousands who know better than to try and flee.
