It's something millions of Americans will wrestle with at some point in their lives. Parents and grandparents get older and eventually, the family has to make a tough call. Is grandpa safe to live on his own, or is it best if he's around people his own age in the United States Senate?

Remember when the ailing gerontocracy of the Soviet Politburo was the butt of jokes and a symptom of the system’s overall decrepitude and sign of its impending collapse?
And those were men in their seventies. Aged somewhat prematurely by poor habits, to be sure, but on the whole younger than the gerontocrats in the White House and Senate.
Will history look back on Biden and the Senate now as it does on Brezhnev/Andropov/Chernenko and the Politburo?
