Thank you Matt, because of your bravery and tenacity it looks like we will be getting an upgrade for speaker. Time will tell but I am forever grateful.
So that we wouldn’t have spent 3 weeks making the Republicans appear(?) to be an embarrassment to the nation.
It wasn’t embarrassing. It was a necessary housecleaning, an opening up of windows and letting in the fresh air. The rot was exposed to the light. We’ve learned a lot in three weeks, haven’t we?
“I backed this play by Matt Gaetz 100% from the start.”
Ditto.
“I am very disappointing.”
You certainly are.
So when should Gaetz have planned to try to get mccarthy to vacate the seat?
After mccarthy approves and signs of several trillion more in an omnibus bill after several cr’s....
in 2024?
-not a typo....
I agree 100%. As Rush said about the left raising holy hell about Trump: this is what cleaning house looks like in DC. If the left was being calm then Trump wouldn't be doing his job. The same with Gaetz and others doing their job to get the House run by a real American Speaker. The left within the GOP wasn't going to let that happen smoothly. Don't blame the ones doing the good work the left tries to stop.
and after having an signed off an omnibus for 2023?
Thanks:
“He was instrumental in getting the Texas Amicus Brief going in 2020 and voted AGAINST certifying the fraudulent 2020 election.”
In the past, I gave to Jim Jordan’s House Conservatives Fund. I was surprised to discover that some of the conservatives voted to certify the 2020 election.
I saved a link to the House Conservatives Fund, but it up and died. I found a new link to WinRed, which is not the same thing IMO. My link to the Senate Conservatives Fund remains intact. Does anyone have new and valid link to the House Conservatives Fund?

Our leaders are Johnson and Scalise.
Whatever, he accomplished something useful and necessary. Reminds me of a boss I once worked for, H.G. Rickover. These types see only one thing...their goal.
“So did I. In the meantime, detractors were driving me nuts, pissing me off, etc. but now I feel a whole lot better.”
Sure brought the establishment New World Order MIC war cult out of the closet didn’t it? Now we know who actually loves their own Grandchildren or not. :)
Well, he probably planned to not be the only one that would try to vacate the speakership because w/o 3 or 4 others, he’d look foolish when it failed. So, in his planning stage, he might’ve seen who might be a possible replacement. Before today (& this wasn’t planned), they could’ve gone to 2024 (not a typo) with no speaker. So, what I’m saying is that he & we lucked out.
How long before the mob suddenly turns on Johnson? He’ll be found too dull, too accommodating, or maybe somebody will suddenly scream RINO or Trump will turn on him for some imagined slight.
We can’t keep doing this. It’s why we lose elections. The Dems probably hate each other’s guts but they have a plan and they all stick together on accomplishing it.
Good luck to Johnson…he has the advantage of not being very well known to most people so maybe he will be able to get some agreement before he steps on somebody’s toes and becomes GOP Public Enemy #1.
The clown show has got to stop. Biden’s stock went up during this because he and Obama actually came out looking as if they were paying attention to things while the GOPers screamed insults at each other as if they didn’t know a thing that was going on outside their office doors.
I admit that I was skeptical. Well played Matt.

Big deal. Look who we've embarrassing us as SOH for decades.
I see where many were saying there should have been other candidates lined up....
But at this point, how many other statements and promises did mccarthy have to break or fail to go through with, before someone tried to hold him on it?
And as it is, what non polarizing house member would have been elected, with mccarthy still interferring from the background (see the Gaetz interview with Bannon for info)?
As it is, I’m surprised with the Johnson pick, but Charlie Kirk seems to approve, so he’s likely as good a choice as the republicans might be able to come together on.
