A Kansas blogger who has battled eating disorders claims weightlifting and extreme body modifications have helped them cope with trauma and 'defeat' their eating disorder.
Jessy Kirkpatrick, 27, who is nonbinary and uses the pronouns they/them, had a healthy relationship with food as a child.
However, in their late teens, they began suffering from anorexia, which they believe stems from severe trauma they experienced as a child.
Kirkpatrick turned to modifications to heal their mental health. The extreme body modifications include a stretched septum - the structure separating the right and left nostrils - multiple lip piercings, a stretched tongue, a stretched lip, stretched nostrils and silicone horn implants in the forehead that make them look like a devil.

Actually her mental health may never have been better that statement doesn’t mean she’s not currently crazy as a sh!thouse rat, only that she was even crazier before.
How could the remake of Nightmare Alley not include this sideshow?
They say that if you think you’re mentally ill, you’re not, but she’s kind of the opposite of that: She’s so mentally ill she thinks she’s normal.
Here’s one that was initially ‘goth’ as a teen, and then went full-on ‘Barbie Doll.’
Also included is a video of a guy who’s trying to look like a Ken Doll.
Plenty of nuttiness to go around!

The demon Legion used the same pronouns.
“My mental health has never been better”
__________
That ain’t sayin’ nuttin’. Pun intended on “nut.”
Money would have been well spent on shock treatments than Halloween get up.
Interesting how “IT” blames extreme trauma as a child for the piercings and tattoos as an adult.
Millions of others have had extreme childhood traumas (including us) and have gone on to live normal lives.
Depends on context — Halloween’s a’ coming.
Disgusting. She’s from Wichita.
HeSheIt thinks he’s happy because he thinks he has hidden something under a ton of modification but will doubtless some day rebound when he realizes he has limned for all to see what he meant to bury.
People who can objectively evaluate, and regret, past extreme behavior are the ones in a better/normal mental health state.
People who justify extreme actions with the claim of good mental health are lying/delusional, and are actually in a very dangerous state.
“..who is nonbinary and uses the pronouns they/them.”
Stopped reading right there. I do not listen to anyone that describes themselves thusly, he or she is mentally ill.
Its why a stable society, with traditional social norms and morality is so important. It provides a touchstone and reference to normality for those whose childhood was traumatic.
No doubt this is true.
I’m convinced that people who do stuff like that to themselves are personifying the demons controlling them.
IOW, if you want to know what demons look like look at them.
If he uses they/them pronouns, he needs to knock off using “I” and “me.” Mentally I’ll and grammatically hypocritical.
You’ll put your eye out, kid!
“Jessy Kirkpatrick, 27, who is nonbinary”.
HIS genes say he is not non-binary. no matter what his mental defect gets him to believe. There is no “they”, only a mentally unhealthy him.
I hate that the author is using the word “their” as a singular pronoun.
