To the DEMs, a black person who is not a DEM is not really black. Ask Clarence Thomas about this.
Of course, they wont vote for him...
hes not black black
The screeching on the House floor will be entertaining...
That is how we got Obama for 8 years.
All the R’s probably will so it’s irrelevant whether any D’s do or not. They’re chomping at the bit to get back to “normal” aka pissing away the taxpayer’s money so they’ll support anyone who does not identify as a “conservative” and who isn’t supported by Matt Gaetz. Plus they’ll have perfect cover because how could they not vote for a Person Of Color?
“How many Democrats would be willing to go on-the-record and vote against Byron Donalds, who could be the first black in history to become Speaker Of The House?”
Not sure. Maybe all of them.
Count me in.
Frankly, I am over the “first black *****” shtick. I don’t like playing their games. You can’t vote against this guy or you’re racist. If he would be a good speaker, then fine, but enough with the identity politics. It has become tiresome.
As my newly elected Congressman, who I supported, he's toast to me now.
I don’t think it will matter who is Speaker. The GOP Speaker will cave. That being said, if the person selected doesn’t upset the Leftist then I’m hard no. Jordan doesn’t Mke me feel like he won’t cVe but because of the people a Jordan speakership scares, annoys and frustrates he was acceptable.
He was a Dem for many years. Only switched to Republican in 2010. And he’s too new for this job.
The democrats always can invent reasons to vote against any Republican even if the reason is False. Count on it, if he becomes the Republican Candidate.
“It presents an interesting dilemma for the party that relies on blacks as one of their largest voting blocs.”
Worse than that is the party relying on color to win a vote instead of a conservative. We don’t need extorsion. We need conservative work by a conservative person. If race is the deciding factor and not how to accomplish the platform, then it isn’t any different that it was. Smoke and mirrors leaving the rinos in command so the liberals can manipulate them as the liberals don’t care what a republican is colored. Just how much of a coward he/she is and how far they can be pushed..

100% of white Democrats would vote against Daniels because according to their white President, Daniels “ain’t black” because he doesn’t vote for Biden.
The greatest enemies of the America First/MAGA/Conservative movement in the “Speaker's” race are the GOP-E squishes; and they are TERRIFIED of being accused of racism. Donalds is the perfect person for conservatives to run against the GOP-E squishes. He and his team should study how Justice Thomas handled his confirmation hearing.
Race and gender don’t matter if there’s an R by the name. Sarah Palin had her garbage picked through and had vicious stories her son Trig was really her grandson circulating instead of a splashy Vogue spread heralding a woman VP candidate. I realize she was at a disadvantage as she was very attractive, fit and didn’t have a public affair with a married politician with power to give her a job to start her career.
Bryan Donald’s will have every inch of his life exposed without that “D” by his name but I’ve seen him in interviews and he can handle it. Wonder if he made a deal with Jim Jordan?
Considering that the Dims have been exclusively voting for the black Hakeem Jeffries, this is a really humiliating thing for Root to say. He probably thinks Democrats are voting for Pelosi.
That said, ask yourself this question: How many people would vote against the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice?
Answer: All of the Democrats would, if he were nominated by a Republican.
Democrats filibustered George W. Bush's nomination of Miguel Estrada for the DC Court of Appeals because they knew he would then move up to the Supreme Court. They blocked Estrada because only Democrats are allowed to make FIRST appointments.
Will they vote against Donalds for Speaker? Absolutely they would. Will Republicans? They are called the Stupid Party for a reason.

Not crazy about the idea of using identity politics in this crisis to put the Dems in a box, but in my opinion, I like him based on his own abilities.
Yeah that's a big no from me. A one-news-cycle story and now you'll never get him out of the Speaker chair until we lose the House, which will be a lot faster if Mushmouth gets the gavel.
