Cabelas lost a $2000 sale yesterday because of their inane gun control. Went to the one closest to me to purchase a thermal rifle scope that cost around $2000. When I entered the store I had my usual conceal carry pistol on me. I noticed a sign saying all weapons must be checked in at customer service. I asked if that included conceal carry and was told yes. There was one couple in front of me so I got behind them. He not only had to surrender his weapon but had to fill out a "20 questions" form. I then decide it wasn't worth it and left since I can buy the same scope om Amazon for the same price.
Okay - that makes a lot of sense actually. Thanks!
In the state of Washington they banned all private transfers. In spite of the 18-page law things were still vague. Gunsmiths were not taking in any firearms to work on unless they knew the person to avoid falling into a trap of not filling out the FFL each time (in and out). The state finally clarified the law that a gunsmith didn’t need to.
We just came back from bass Pro in Gwinnett County GA. No problem with CC. The day they try to stop carry in the store will be our last time there.
"Concealed/Open Carry Policies
If you have a valid concealed carry permit within the state where the store is located, we honor your right to carry if it is completely concealed.
Open carry of a handgun is allowed as long as the firearm remains holstered, except where prohibited by state or local law.
All local, state, and federal law enforcement officials and authorized persons are permitted to carry weapons openly in the store."

Someone from corporate needs to tell the folks in Allen, Texas what their policy is.

No, I just saw the form they gave the guy in front of me and decided to leave.
I happen to remember after I posted that I had the same thing happen at that store about a year ago but was just looking to shop so just left when they told me that sign included conceal carry. I just left then also.
Bass Pro Shop (same company) has the same policy but its common to see holstered people in the store with a weapon in it.
If they hate gun owners, time to add them to the same no buy from list as dick’s sporting goods.
The standard no-guns pic is a Barreta. Just pack a Glock and you’re all set. “But it’s not a Barretta”
Free Republic dot com really needs to add a ‘Like’ button, fren!
Do you have experience with ATN Thor IV? say the largest objective, and highest power?
What is so much better it is worth the extra money, and how is it different, in terms of range, identification, etc?
In my state, there has to be a particular sign (clear sticker on a window or door with white, “no guns” symbol and black and red text) explicitly stating guns aren’t allowed on premises for carry permit holders.
I usually walk away at that point. I’m in IL. You can look up the sign.
If you want good thermal or IR you should look at FLIR or TNVC. ATN is a cheap toy by comparison. That’s from experience. I haven’t tried the Thor 4 and I see it’s in the $3k range. In the same range you will find FLIR Systems Thermosight Pro PTS736. Much better quality and optic, IMO.
Yes, I forgot. There should be a 30.06 sign to ban conceal carry and a 30.07 to ban open carry but I believe the rule is if a store wants to ban all weapons they can post a sign saying that and the police and courts will stand behind that.
