Suzanne Somers, the effervescent blonde actor known for playing Chrissy Snow on the television show “Three’s Company” as well as her business endeavors, has died. She was 76.

Somers had breast cancer for over 23 years and died Sunday morning, her family said in a statement provided by her longtime publicist, R. Couri Hay. Her husband Alan Hamel, her son Bruce and other immediate family were with her in Palm Springs, California.

“Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th,” the statement read. “Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly.”

In July, Somers shared on Instagram that her breast cancer had returned.

“Like any cancer patient, when you get that dreaded, ‘It’s back’ you get a pit in your stomach. Then I put on my battle gear and go to war," she told Entertainment Tonight at the time. "This is familiar battleground for me and I’m very tough.”

Step by step was wholesome. That lasted seven years at least.

May she rest in peace. When I was in high school, I used to have fun doing imitations of her ditzy blonde shtick.

She probably inspired many people with similar health issues.

You are probably right.

She joins the ranks of Steve Jobs and many others who bought into non-medical snake-oil treatments.

We even see some of those crazy treatments promoted right here on FR.

We are saddened by her loss. And yes, it was her life and her choice.

Choices have consequences.

RIP.

She used unconventional methods to treat her various cancers.

I think they must have done some good because she stayed alive a long time with those cells trying to take over. I know Glutathione was big on her list.

And yet, she was able to fight off cancer for decades. Something worked

It’s hard to beat cancer forever but she did successfully fight it for a long time.

She was more of a TV version of Meryl Streep or Ingrid Bergman.

Actually, Elly Mae on The Beverly Hillbillies was closer to Ingrid Bergman than Chrissy.

She was diagnosed over 20 years ago with a very aggressive form of breast cancer. I'd say her "snake oil" worked pretty good compared to the standard treatment.

by the way, anyone fighting breast cancer here is one thing she tried early on. I tried to get a family member to try alternative treatments but that member only wanted to try Doctor FDA recommended treatment. Yeah, didn’t live long with those FDA treatments and was miserable the entire time.

Heard of her? Thats your standard? Hitler, heard of him? I never saw anything she did I did not loath. I don’t know if she was a good person or not. She is just a person people know for doing a very bad sitcom. And she lived a nice long life. You can say she was a great person, I would not know. Tell me how she was a good person. But famous people die every day. And I don’t care about most of them. As you say I will die too. You don’t have to care about me. 99.9999% of the world won’t care either. Its OK.

she was intelligent too, her lovely and sweet ingenue Chrissy not withstanding.

i still use her well written book on supplements as a reference. i recall, she fought very hard against the encroachment of big med and big pharma on supplements before it was the life and death struggle it is now.

“She joins the ranks of Steve Jobs and many others who bought into non-medical snake-oil treatments.”

A decision that Jobs stated before he died was the worse mistake of his life.

Until Three’s Company he usually played a heavy, which he did very convincingly.

His regret was about delaying the surgery.

Once you cut out the offending cancer then you are left with FDA approved treatment. Unless you try something else.

If you can cut out the cancer it doesn’t make sense to leave it in there. But many cant be cut out.
