"I took the walkie-talkie and I said this line again and again: 'No-one will enter Nir Am, no-one will enter Nir Am.'"
Adam is 46, ex-special-forces, so we can't show his face or use his full name. His head is shaved, a boxer, not the biggest man but you wouldn't mess with him. It's clear he can handle himself.
He was joined by other men from the kibbutz, he says.
"Civilians who don't know how to fight but have got a lot of heart. Two or three with special forces experience but the others… just regular men, they work in IT. Regular men, but very, very special."
Together they fought for between three and five hours - Adam isn't exactly sure. Then came a lull.

Amen.
Yup.
A Friend from face book just sent me this and I thought I would add it: “Of course you would stand with them because being Israeli most of the time the ground under their feet is all they have.”
literally fighting for their lives and loved ones at their own front doors. i hope we’re all ready for tomorrow.
Blessings to the Land of Israel. God protect and assist these dear soldiers.
Wonderful story of bravery, competence and determination. Sometimes the good guys do win. Thanks for posting.
Good job.
And what about the future?
Adam says he thinks most people in Gaza are good people who want a normal life, but he wants overwhelming military action to deal with Hamas.
"We can't have the same solution, we need something much, much stronger," he says.
But he says he doesn't want to see Israeli troops enter Gaza. "They (Hamas) want us to do that because they've got traps in there. This would be wrong."
Doesn't seem realistic, sadly...
He may not be wrong about the traps, though. Boobytrapping buildings and objects is historically common.
If there’s so many “good ppl” in Gaza who “want a normal life,” why have they put up with Hamas controlling their pathetic lives for decades? Until we see them rise up against their “leaders,” I have to think they’re supportive of these atrocities against Israelis.
Yeah, but flattening a building generally negates any booby traps it might have contained.
“There are very few men from countries outside the America I would want to stand beside me in a fight,”
ROK Marines.
Except Hamas read Ivan’s field manuals from Stalingrad and apparently they have an enormous network of tunnels and bunkers under Gaza. Flattening Stalingrad didn’t help the Germans much in WW2, after all - and it remains to be seen if current technology as Israel currently possesses is going to be able to overcome this, or if all flattening Gaza is going to do is give the rats cover in the rubble.
“ROK Marines.”
I know a guy that was in Vietnam and served beside and near some ROK Marines. He said they were the most crazy brave soldiers he saw. He claims that ROK Marines were the original Tunnel Rats, troops that crawled into the VC tunnels to kill or grab info.
IDK, but that’s what I was told.
