NATIONAL SAUSAGE PIZZA DAY
Food lovers across the country enjoy National Sausage Pizza Day on October 11th each year. Whether served on a thin or thick crust, sausage pizza goes well with other toppings, too. Don't hesitate to add mushrooms and a variety of cheeses. What's even better about sausage pizza are the different kinds of sausage to choose from.
#SausagePizzaDay
While Italian sausage may be preferred, try experimenting. Add more garlic or try additional spice. Try smoky sausages such as chorizo or even a kielbasa visit with your local butcher for sausage suggestions. They've probably been smoking up the latest experiment just for you to try.
Sausage comes in many combinations, too. Lighter forms and different ages offer flavors that complement our toppings. A little sweet with the savory creates a modern taste experience.
Sautéd onions add amazing flavor to sausage pizza. While cooking up the onions add a few portabella mushrooms to the pan. Once you've added them to your pizza, sprinkle the top with feta cheese and fresh basil. You won't regret it.

PIZZA! PIZZA! PING! PING!.................
There is only ONE type of sausage:
Fresh ground.
If it’s delivered in a bag or a freezer truck...
IT’S NOT SAUSAGE!!!!
The meat has to have time to absorb all the flavors from the herbs and spices.....................
But of course! However, it only takes hours and is not accomplished in the freezer.
To be clear, I’m specifically denigrating the processed, nitrate-poisoned rat turd bits marketed as ‘sausage’ by many firms and FAKE PIZZA JOINTS.
If you’re ever laid over in Portland, OR, sample Flying Pie Pizza; you won’t regret it. You can’t get a pizza like that in over 1000 miles (a pathetic statement).
The best pizzas come from Mom & Pop restaurants................
Especially if Mom & Pop’s names end in a vowel. 😋
Agreed. FP is one of those with multiple locations.
We used to have a Mom & Pop Pizza place here called BJ’s Pizza, that had the best pizzas in town and served beer in those yard long tubes.
Been gone for decades after they retired..................
Unfortunately the best local pizza here doesn’t use real sausage. I plan on getting one of their combos for take & bake for Thanksgiving weekend - minus their ‘sausage’ - and plan on adding my own fresh Italian sausage for a genuine, original treat.
Vegan?.....................
Well, again...that ‘rat turd’ packaged/processed/frozen shit sold by Chef Store.
I pick it off since my coworkers are oblivious and carefree in that respect.
That ‘sausage’ in the pic is disgusting, IMHO.
My mom used to raise rabbits.
Those little sausage balls reminds me of them..................
“nitrate-poisoned rat turd bits”
I knew those things on my pizza looked familiar.
I have never been a fan of the flavor of pineapple and, even though I have sampled it, cannot equate the topping to the label ‘pizza’.
It’s something else entirely. And, to beat a dead horse (the pineapple/pizza debate), to each their own.
It simply won’t be an option on my menu.
