It has been reported that the family had watched YouTube tutorials to prepare for living in the wildnerness.
Earlier this month, a solo hiker near the Gold Creek Campground made the grim discovery of the bodies of Rebecca Vance, 42; her 14-year-old son; and her sister, Christine Vance, 41, all residents of Colorado Springs.
The mummified remains of a family who attempted to live off-grid were discovered in July in Colorado's Gunnison National Forest. According to NBC News, the family reportedly relied only on YouTube videos.
It's a sad lesson in the dangers of unprepared wilderness living.

According to her stepsister Trevala Jara, Rebecca Vance got worried about the state of the world during the COVID-19 pandemic. So she decided to take her son and live in nature.

They were about 4 or 5 miles away from a small town.
The Native Americans had it rough.
These fools weren’t living off the grid; they were three utterly clueless people who naively thought that “nature will provide.” They went into the wilderness wholly unprepared.
I have spent a lot of time around there. It is only about 25 miles to Gunnison.
The 14 year shouldn’t be condemned but the women certainly lacked good sense.
Probably got 30 below for a few days and the crochet unicorn wool caftans
just weren't warm enough. Lucky they were able to warm themselves over
the glowing patchouli sticks right to the very end.

I am not condemning him, because he was a minor and his parent was in charge. However, I’d expect him to say to her, “Are you out of your @#$%^&* mind?”
The American Indian (Or Native Americans if one prefers the politically correct version) had survival skills handed down through the generations. They were a tough hardy people with survival smarts built into them. Learning started out as a small child. Life was tough, but they endured.
These clowns in Colorado are just that. Sorry to see them dead, but they were totally ignorant of off grid living.
This happened last winter, I think. They got snowed in with no way to get out and they did not have enough food.
There is a large amount of irony in posting how you live off grid on the Internet.
I think now we prefer to be known as “First Amaricans” at least that is what they tell me at the council house.

2 gallons of fresh clean water per person per day.
Safely disposing of the body wastes of 3 people.
Keeping 3 people from freezing to death using only wood as a fuel.
Other than that, not much.

Lesbians tend to hate and be violent towards male children. I don’t think it would have gone the way you are thinking it would have if he said that.
My understanding of pre-Columbian history is there was a period where warlike tribes in the less forgiving North raided and drove the southern tribes further south. Essentially descendants of the true “first” Americans are down in Chile and Argentina.
