Former President Trump said he would use "federal law enforcement assets" to prevent shoplifting and theft during a California GOP speech on Friday.
Trump addressed the California GOP during a Friday luncheon where he discussed ideas to restore law and order in Golden State cities like Oakland, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Trump said that if elected, he would do everything in his power - "including sending as many federal assets as required to restore safety and peace" - for cities that have seen what he called a breakdown of law and order.
"We will immediately stop all of the pillaging and theft," Trump said. "Very simply, if you rob a store, you can fully expect to be shot as you are leaving that store. Shot!"
The former president also said "we have the greatest law enforcement in the world" and that they "know what to do, but they aren't allowed to do anything because of incompetent politicians."
"The word that ‘they shoot you’ will get out within minutes, and our nation within one day will be an entirely different place," Trump said.
"There must be retribution for theft, and destruction, and the ruination of our country," he added.
Trump's comments come as the former president runs to take the Republican presidential nomination in a robust field of candidates. Trump holds a commanding lead in early GOP primary polls.
The former president's speech in California came after the second GOP presidential primary debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.

“Today’s liberals ... say it’s just stuff”
It’s like they can’t grasp the concept that each item stolen from inventory raises the cost for honest people who are willing to pay at the register.
Make looters a “season” with no bag limit.
Issue a $5 varmit permit to cover the cost of burial.
Actually.. it's a GOOD IDEA in terms of a preventative!
I'm not sure I want armed "federal law enforcement assets" hanging around local stores while I shop.
Think TSA with guns.
Armed local citizens will do just fine, thank you.
When the looting starts the shooting starts.
I never shoplifted out of a store. But, as a kid, I did snake a glass bottle of Coke off a Coke delivery truck (remember the trucks with the big rollup side doors?). It was parked at an old country store, near our house, on a pretty much empty road. Grabbed a bottle out of one of those old wooden crates and started my walk home. As I was strolling along...feeling hugely guilty and trying to decide what I was gonna do with a hot bottle of pop, a car rolled up beside me. A woman stuck her head out of the window and said “I saw you take that Coke and I told on you”. She drove off. Scared the k-rap outta me. I was just approaching a bridge at the time so I leaned over the rail and dropped the bottle. It hit rocks and shattered. Spent the next few days waiting for the county cops to appear at my doorstep. Luckily, they didn’t. Also didn’t return to the store for a few weeks even though it was my go-to place for candy, comics and BBs. Yep...I figured out I wasn’t designed for robbery.
employees with shotguns
yes
I say close the shops and tell the neighborhood,I’m taking my stuff and selling it elsewhere.....Since you have no problem stealing it, i”m going where I can make a living with it......
If you post a link with no other text, you don’t need any HTML kung-fu to make the link work.
Looting is in the part I posted
Thanks!
Thanks!
Just stuff.
That’s what’s wrong.. It’s not the stuff. It’s the breaking.. Entering.. And stealing. That’s wrong. And dumb to not know
What I REALLY like about President Trump is that he is willing to say what no other politician is willing to say and he is willing to do what no other politician is willing to do!
AND HE MEANS IT!
To the dems and black thieves, it is just stuff...They done’t even consider the breaking and entering....They don’t care about the store closings or lost jobs.....
