If they "disagree," then, as this is a political forum, they may disagree. But "dumb" it is not.

And Zelensky as Colin Kaepernick: who actually isn’t good and is 3-16 in his last 2 seasons, but is advertised as a brave social-justice warrior, who only due to evil forces, is oppressed and just not allowed to perform to his potential.
Except the “Russian” team would be the #2 ranked professional team in the world, and the “Ukrainians” would be a peewee football team, and somehow the “Russians” still haven’t won the game and it’s going into overtime.
And the PeeWees are being mowed down by at least 50% of their available players ( estimated 70,000 since June) the other team is going strong…..
eventually the team that runs out of players will forfeit the game.

And yet, despite all that, they can’t seem to win yet. Just imagine if the Dallas Cowboys’ coach was reduced to making such arguments to explain their embarassing inability to beat a peewee football team. Ha!
If Russians wanted to win, all they had to do was drop a nuke on Kiev. Instead Russia is playing game of depleting NATO & US weapons stockpiles. War is keeping Oil prices high which means more money to Russia. Ukraine is causing divisions in US & EU voters. China & Iran & NK are moving closer to Russia. Can you give me 1 practical reason why Russia needs to end the war in a hurry?

I do not think the term “ winning” means what you think it means.
If “ winning” is killing the enemy snd breaking their weapons, the Russians are doing a rather impressive job from entrenched defenses that greatly minimize their own losses.
It’s a war of attrition, not a war for Russia to capture and hold territory with extended lines of logistics to defend.. at least, not yet.
The Ukes have made it somewhat simpler by throwing masses of men and armor into narrow tactical objectives, with unvarying and predictable operations repeated over and over producing massive losses.

That’s one part of it, but only one part. “Winning” means achieving your strategic objectives, denying the enemy their strategic objectives, and moving closer to your end goal of destroying your enemy’s ability to continue to fight.
You could say what you are talking about is part of the third thing, but it’s not sensible to abandon the first two and concede to a stalemate while thinking that you can achieve the third. That won’t happen. Especially not when outside powers you cannot fight and degrade are supporting your enemy.

That’s certainly what Russia wants the war to be percieved as now. That’s certainly not how the war started, it’s just what they have been reduced to claiming since they can’t reasonably make another claim at this point. And yet, they have captured territory which they are trying to hold with extended defensive lines. So it’s still not even a very reasonable claim to make, I’d say.

Yeah, I don’t think the Ukrainians are really winning at this point either, but since they are the defender they don’t really have to. They only need to deny the win to Russia, and keep doing it long enough for Russia to realize their position is unsustainable, and will cost them much more than the embarrassment of withdrawing from Ukraine will cost them.
