Temple University Acting President JoAnne Epps died suddenly Tuesday afternoon after falling ill during a university memorial service, the school said in a statement.
She was 72.
“While attending a memorial service at Temple for Charles L. Blockson, curator of the Blockson Collection, President Epps became ill. She was transported to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 3:15 p.m,” the university, which is in Philadelphia, said.
Epps appeared to have suffered a “sudden episode during the event,” said Temple University Health System’s Daniel del Portal during a Tuesday afternoon news conference.

Probably, she probably had the best health care, it's weird she goes to a public event, and dies suddenly.

Even younger people have died suddenly. It happened quite often in the 1860s. John Sedgwick, age 52. J.E.B. Stuart, age 31. Abraham Lincoln, age 56.

Imagine this. White couple dies in home invasion and shot by a gang banger. Cause of death on the certificate..Husband and wife died if a “Sudden Episode.”

It should have been serious. I remember reading about a PE teacher who was running at lunch time and sat down with his students at a picnic table after. In minutes he simply dropped dead. He was not an old guy. Thing is, it was during the 1980’s. Athletic young man trying to stay fit by exercising. It seems like we hear more about these things because we have an internet that allows news from all over to be seen all over. This guy was in an article that appeared one day and an obituary on another day in the same small-town newspaper. I doubt if anyone here has ever heard of this.
