Dubai is an amazing city. It Has One of the Most Diverse Populations in the World About 90% of the population in the entire UAE are expats and immigrants and most of these people live in Dubai. Combine that with the fact that there are about 70% more foreigners to locals and that makes it an incredibly diverse population.

Statistics show that 15% of the people in Dubai comprise locals, while foreigners represent the other 85% of the population. Most of the expatriates are from Sri Lanka and the Indian subcontinent.

Buildings being old is just one sign of decline. Old buildings filled with millions from the 3rd world are another.

Dubai has people from all over the world—they know if they commit a crime they are expelled from the city or worse....

Even the dumbest people figure it out—if you are tough enough to do what is necessary.

Use of the word “capitalism” comes from the left, who would regard the phrase “free market” abhorrent (but not “free trade”). Remember, the left is not averse to capitalism per se, when it is state capitalism.

I regularly went to Dubai 2003-2008. Dubai had (has?), a section where churches are located. The same building was (is?) used my multiple churches.

The water park was weird. White women in bikinis and Arab women in wet gowns with part of their face visible.

Even then there were over 100 malls.

True. I never felt any qualms walking around there as far as crime is concerned. Your best bet in Dubai is to keep a low profile and not call attention to yourself.

It’s a pretty city and there are plenty of things to do, but Dubai always felt sort of flashy and superficial to me. I prefer Amman, Jordan for a Middle East city to visit.
