Dubai is an amazing city. It Has One of the Most Diverse Populations in the World About 90% of the population in the entire UAE are expats and immigrants and most of these people live in Dubai. Combine that with the fact that there are about 70% more foreigners to locals and that makes it an incredibly diverse population.
Statistics show that 15% of the people in Dubai comprise locals, while foreigners represent the other 85% of the population. Most of the expatriates are from Sri Lanka and the Indian subcontinent.
The US could have dozens of cities like that...if the Democratic Party was gone tomorrow....
The rulers in UAE know the oil will run out one day, and Dubai was created as a tourist attraction to persevere after oil is gone.
Have a friend heading there next month - not her first trip so I imagine she is familiar with the dress code etc.
Wow!! This would be America, if we didn’t have Democrats.
When I flew from Singapore’s ultra-modern airport and landed at San Francisco International airport, it was a weird feeling of landing in a third world airport.
That’s the thing... It isn’t all Petro money. The young prince years ago turned SA inwards toward big tech. Ther is close to half of that economy if not more due to big tech over oil... That’s what rush said one episode years ago...
Tour guide in Singapore told us there are no food stamps here. If you dop not work, you will not eat. Guess what? Unemployment is near zero. He said, the only unemployed are those switching jobs. And every 6th Singapore citizen is a millionaire.
I’m with you on this, underneath all that planned and enforced glitter is probably one of the world’s ugliest cities, and it is unlikely to improve as the decades go by and it’s core purpose becomes more and more concentrated and efficient.
Expats earn far more in Dubai than in their own country. Consequently, Dubai is the safest city in the world. No one wants to get banned from working in Dubai by committing a crime.
Detroit today:
Singapore is 75% ethnic Chinese with an average IQ of 108.
I suspect New York City was the Dubai of its time. What a shame it has turned into a dem ghetto.
I’m sure they can afford anything. I was just thinking of a human being consuming 550 liters of water in a day. That’s a heck of a lot of water!
“UAE can afford desalinization plants.”
So can California, EASILY. But, as I mentioned, only the elite (meaning citizens there) have any say in politics, so the idea of Leftists igniting mob-voting doesn’t exist in Dubai, as it does in California and most US cities.
“The US could have dozens of cities like that...if the Democratic Party was gone tomorrow....”
...or if we got rid of universal voting, and went back to making it a PRIVILEGE.
Didn’t you leave your native India to come to America?
Dubai one of the worlds largest money laundering spots in the world diamonds gold cash and other items all you have to do is clam it when entering and little when leaving it.
One other comment: For those of you wanting to visit the Communist Wasteland of Russia (at least that’s how the Neocons view it, LOL), Dubai is one of the two easy ways to get there (via Emirate Airlines), the other is through Istanbul, via Turkish. Beyond those two options, it gets much more sporty!
Trump was 100% right again. The greedy corrupt ruling class in D.C. got wealthy, while turning U.S. major cities into ghettos, filled with tens of millions from the 3rd world here illegally, rampant crime, homeless, as they force all of us to pay for our own demise.
Trump called for America First and got mocked and called a racist...
The difference between Dubai and Singapore vs US cities has nothing to do with the masses—it is the rulers.
The rulers make the rules and are responsible for the way the cities work or do not work.
The Democrats made every ghetto possible, every homeless person possible, every crime possible.
Their leaders made this happen—and Dubai and Singapore show what determined and wise leadership can accomplish.
US cities show what bad leadership can accomplish.
There are no excuses—there are only results.
