I never understood why the transferred Monday Night Football to ESPN, when it was on ABC it was always the highest ranked program each seek.
Disney is desperate at this point
Cut cable awhile back so no woke NFL for this household.
I guess trying to force more paid subscriptions...ABC airings allowed people to watch with an antenna.
Oh good. Even more people can watch the Steelers stink again tonight.
After the NFL allowed players and coaches to insult veterans, I no longer watch at all. Same for MLB. I was never much of a fan for the NBA.
When the bowed to Globohomo they lost me. Forever.
There was a 2 fold thing. First scheduling sports on broadcast, especially partly in prime time which the network “owns” is a challenge. With games starting at 8 eastern and ending at 8:30ish pacific you’ve got a schedule problem, what is ABC supposed to do for the last hour of “prime time” in the west but not in the east? Then you’ve got the problem that it’s only half the standard TV season, so you’ll put mid season “replacements” on Monday in January, but anything that actually succeeds has to be moved to a different night in September. It’s all handleable but, less than ideal, especially when you add in part 2.
The Mouse felt like they were competing with themselves. With multiple sports channels already splitting the audience having sports on ABC just made it worse. Especially with MNF having the biggest sports audience in the country, ESPN ratings were being crushed by their own network. So they got ABC out of the sports business. They killed Wide World, and some other stuff.
Of course now the strikes have the well running dry. So hurray simulcast.
Duck Fisney.
I’ll watch if Howard Cosell is the announcer.
Trying to get reported revenues up so they can be used to up then price of ABC when they sell it.
AB who? Foot what.
Let’s have Monday Night scantily bikini clad real women’s Beach Volleyball. Maybe I’ll start watching Monday Night sports again. NFL began to stink with Tagliabue and the died with Goodell. Sorry. Can’t stand that woke vibe.
You gotta pay for a cable/satellite subscription, or purchase NFL ticket or something to watch it on ESPN. Putting it over the air meant it was free and they couldn’t charge you for it.
I am guessing its a combination between the writers strike and people dropping their subscriptions has forced them into this decision. I may not watch a game or 2 this year, if I feel like it, now.
