This is an ongoing thread – meaning come back to chat, post information, or ask questions any time. Hopefully the thread won’t stagnate and I’ll do better at posting weekly (or bi-weekly) topics than I have in the past. (anyone willing to post a topic now and then we'll be highly praised and appreciated).
We are in for some bumpy rides, and prepping can only help. If for peace of mind, if nothing else. We have a wonderful gardening thread and a current-events survival/prepping thread, and hopefully this one can piggyback off of those, maybe having a longer discussion about certain topics or … whatever. It's your thread, do what you like with it! (civilly, of course)
Here are granny’s threads, if anyone wants to peruse them:

YW!
you’re on it!
now no complaining allowed, lol
got you on it!
howdy neighbor!
I love driving your way, when I head to Asheville. NC has the prettiest moutains, IMO.
I’m outside of Elizabethton.
Please add me to your ping list.
Thanks,
nanetteclaret
add me to your ping list please
I hope that I can bug in
Things are certainly bad in your country and mine. At least your old fool in the WH is on his way out. Look at the prancing buffoon we have, and he’s not going anywhere soon. He’s bound, bent and determined to tax us all into poverty, and cut off as much of what we need as he can. I can’t put in writing what I want to happen....he’s that corrupt.
got you on it, Sister, glad you found us
you’re on!
Thanks for the thread and ping!
It’s so hard sometimes to NOT use Amazon. I dislike Bezos as well, but when I consider that the only other place to purchase many products is Walmart, well, six of one, half dozen of the other. They’re all part of the corporate fascist crowd. We just don’t have any small town, local vendors to speak of. Well, maybe the thrift store, the local hardware store, and we actually have a new butcher in town, but that’s about it.
The weather didn’t help your garden any. Give an extra hug to your little granddaughter.
Would you please include me on the pinglist? Thx.
So, CB, this looks like an interesting little thread you’ve got going here. What topics are generally popular? Is everyone ok with sharing a bit of their lives? Nothing too personal lol, just stories of interest? I see that recipes used to abound lol. I’ll shy away from those, except my potato salad is to die for.....just sayin’.
Any politics allowed? Or do we not want any Trump/DeSantis/Pence/Haley/Ramaswamy?/Christie wars to ensue lol? Did y’all welcome news postings/discussions?
Inquiring minds want to know lol!
Had a great visit with the little one. She’s on the cusp of taking her first steps.
Hi Rusty!
No, the weather sure did the garden in this year. Natalie did manage to get a lot of green beans, but only a couple of bushels of tomatoes. She’s digging out potatoes next week - says they’re ok. Corn was all but wiped out.
So, I heard this tonight from my son-in-law. He has raised a bunch of pheasants, and he’s going to set up a day for him and a few friends to have an old-fashioned British pheasant hunt. Lol - what a guy. They cannot be released by law, so he’s going to set up a bunch of hay bales out in the field, and my oldest granddaughter is going to go behind them and release the pheasants, one by one. The guys have to dress all prim and proper, like old times. Honestly, what a bunch of weirdos! Then they’re going to have a big roast pheasant dinner. I suspect I’ll be making the pies.
YW!
I think the first recipe on the brand new thread should be Canadian Potato Salad.
please??
I can turn anything into prepper food. I have chocolate (Snickers, Baci, M&Ms, and Almond Roca) in mylar or canning jars with oxygen absorbers. Of course, I have to periodically test them to determine what their shelf-life is under those conditions. I’m a little disappointed the LDS don’t have that information. So far, everything is fresh and the chocolate still soft at 18 months.
Potato salad might be a bit tricky. Unless we can use dry canned potatoes? what do you think ryderann? (she introduced me to dry canning potatoes! I’m going to have to buy some potatoes this week to try it)
“I hope that I can bug in”
me too. I had planned on it, until they started setting our forests on fire. I didn’t even think that would be an issue, since we moved out of the Sierras
That sounds like a blast!
I understand but I’m guessing we are on the same wavelength.
Mr. mm prefers eBay. He says he finds better quality at better prices that Amazon.
