Aaron Rodgers injury update: MRI reveals Jets QB suffered a complete tear of Achilles tendon...Rodgers' season is over

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers' 2023 season is over before it ever really got started. After the quarterback was injured on his fourth play of the Jets' opening game, head coach Robert Saleh told reporters following the Jets' 22-16 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills that they feared that the four-time NFL MVP tore his Achilles tendon. That is what was ultimately discovered following an MRI on Tuesday, CBS Sports NFL Insider Jonathan Jones reports.

"It's not good," Saleh said.

The injury will be season-ending. On the Jets' first drive Monday night, Rodgers was injured and helped off the field by trainers. After a visit to the blue medical tent, he was carted to the locker room. After initially being labeled as questionable to return with an ankle injury, he was later downgraded to out. The Jets announced that his X-rays were negative.

Rodgers suffered the injury after being sacked by veteran pass rusher Leonard Floyd on a first-and-10 with 11:40 remaining in the first quarter. While it appeared at first that Rodgers was OK, he went back down to the turf while officials stopped play.

When Alex Trebek's demise was evident, I thought Anderson Cooper might make an adequate Jeopardy! host. While I loathe his politics and CNN position, he was rather entertaining during warmup for a GOP debate we attended years ago.

Cooper was one of the temporary Jeopardy! hosts after Trebek's death. Anderson Cooper was beyond awful. He was by far the worst of the lot.

Aaron Rodgers was much better.

Thought I saw on Total Access that part of this trade with GB included clause saying he had to play a certain number of games, or Jets would get some sort of future picks.

The contract was probably many, many pages with every conceivable contingency covered. These deals are too big to go unprotected. Everybody is insured to the hilt.

Not to be a stickler, but they no longer play on “astroturf”, it’s called field turf.

Astroturf was basically indoor/outdoor carpet placed on concrete.

Field turf is placed on the prepared ground with a compacted sand base. The “blades of grass” are longer and then they use ground rubber to fill the turf for the desired length of “grass”.

For the 2026 World Cup, they will install real grass in the indoor stadiums.

If they can do it, so can the NFL.

The Players Union needs to step up.

Aaron Rodgers has a lot of post-NFL options.

He gets to take a 70 million dollar vacation.

It's closer to $45 million. Aaron took a massive pay cut in order for the Jets to bring in more talent around him.

Green Bay actually lost a first round pick with this injury. Deal required Aaron to take min. 65% of snaps.

Yeah, can’t really blame the loss on Mahomes.

If Kelce had played, they would not have lost by 1 point.

If the refs actually called those false starts by KC the Lions would have won by more.

They also brought him in to help with Wilson, he can still do that.

Be interesting to see if Wilson will mature now.

Thanks for the details. I thought I heard about 1st round draft pick but wasn’t sure so I didn’t post it.

I totally agree. Cooper was awful. We used to watch Jeopardy! every night, but somehow we got out of the habit. I bet when the time change comes again, we will start up again. I guess we’ve been more active in the evenings now than we used to be.

Andy Reid said the loss was his fault for not having his team ready.

Andy Reid went for it on 4th and 25 from deep inside his own territory down by 1 point with three timeouts and most likely the two minute warning. On top of having a historically great quarterback. A lot of the Chiefs loss was because Andy Reid wasn't ready. That was a pretty dumb coaching decision. Nice to see them lose.

Where there is climate change, there are freak surfaces.

A breakthrough could happen: Tommy Rodger’s John Surgery.

“Cheese with that whine? Tripping call is a stretch and the “analyst” is full of it. You could also call holding on one player or another on every damn play but they don’t. But... but... butt...an asterisk!! waaah!!! The Bills didn’t lose! We wuz robbed!

So your team played like crap. It happens. Get over it and quit crying, Sallyann...”

I think you have a mental issue! Or are you just trolling?
