Singer Gary Wright died at 80 years old on Monday after years of health issues, according to his family.

Wright's son, Justin Wright, told TMZ that the musician died Monday morning at his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California, with his family and loved ones by his side.

The singer-songwriter was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease more than five years ago and, shortly after that diagnosis, also learned he had Lewy body dementia. Wright's Parkinson's worsened over the past year and ultimately prevented him from speaking or moving around on his own, according to his son.

I agree

Awesome decade - might be Bee Gees, Doobie Brothers, Captain and Tennille, Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker Band, Yes, Glen Campbell, Nilsson, Carpenters, Disco, Classical Gas, Chicago, Deep Purple, Three Dog Night, Ringo, Neil Sedaka, Lynyrd Skynyrd......

Wow - just wow

I had M50’s on the rear of my Mach 1 - 14-inch rims though

Yet there are the hidden and not so hidden creators of our time. Nightwish and Epica, for example.

Great stuff. Before American cars turned into tiny and ugly foreign imports.

Yeah - like a lot of them folks - he was everywhere

IIRC Glen Campbell performed with the Beach Boys and I think that Darry Dragon (the Captain) did some work with the Beatles - Billy Preston did some work with the Beatles

I kid you not - I looked at the door when I got into the driver's seat - the door was maybe 1-1/2 inches to 2 inches thick it seemed

A 1978 Quarter Pounder was heavenly. 1976 Taco Bell. Anything....Very good.

It actually drove OK as I recall.

But it felt like you were in a thin-walled beer can with wheels.

The guy who rented it was the CEO of Sterling National Life Insurance company.

I drove him out to his airplane at a private airport (don’t remember his name but I’m going to see if I can look it up).

I watched him do his drip test on the wing tanks and then I left before he took off.

I just don’t remember if it was 1976 or 1977.

But I DO recall that in 1976 I saw Ronald Reagan get out of his limousine across the street at the Ramada Inn (structure now gone; it was sold to another hotel chain and the buildings were destroyed about 4-5 years ago).

Back then I could eat TWO Quarter Pounders with Cheese, large fry, large Coca-Cola, then I’d get two candy bars and another Coke out of the vending machines.

AND stay at 175 lbs.

I don’t remember 1976 prices but I do remember that tacos were still 33 cents each in 1978. I remember that because the assistant manager at the Taco Bell I just ate at, then rear-ended my buddy’s F-150. Did very little to the bumper on the F-150 but heavily damaged his Ford Granada.

Poor guy was crying when they put him on the stretcher (he was not seriously injured though). My guess is things were not going to well. I’ve now been there myself.

Just before he hit us, we were watching this blue 1970 Mach 1 turning left in front of us. I thought he was burning out because I heard tires squealing. It was the Granada with his brakes locked up.

My buddy’s truck was black, of course, at it was at night. The Taco Bell guy just didn’t pick us up, brake lights notwithstanding.

Awesome decade

What's amazing is how many times have you heard a great song from the 70's and see the band name, that you don't even remember. For me, it's very often.

Great radio back then - mid-to-late 1960’s too
