A 1978 Quarter Pounder was heavenly. 1976 Taco Bell. Anything....Very good.

Back then I could eat TWO Quarter Pounders with Cheese, large fry, large Coca-Cola, then I’d get two candy bars and another Coke out of the vending machines.

AND stay at 175 lbs.

I don’t remember 1976 prices but I do remember that tacos were still 33 cents each in 1978. I remember that because the assistant manager at the Taco Bell I just ate at, then rear-ended my buddy’s F-150. Did very little to the bumper on the F-150 but heavily damaged his Ford Granada.

Poor guy was crying when they put him on the stretcher (he was not seriously injured though). My guess is things were not going to well. I’ve now been there myself.

Just before he hit us, we were watching this blue 1970 Mach 1 turning left in front of us. I thought he was burning out because I heard tires squealing. It was the Granada with his brakes locked up.

My buddy’s truck was black, of course, at it was at night. The Taco Bell guy just didn’t pick us up, brake lights notwithstanding.
