The dos and do not dos of flying this Labor Day Weekend (or any day really)
Flying suck now. It’s a nightmare, and it’s only gotten worse since the plague times. It seems some of us have forgotten what it means to be or behave like a person — a normal, decent person. Or maybe the monster was always lurking there, just under the surface. Who knew one delayed flight was all it took to make someone snap?
Some of us have forgotten basic flying decency. Ahead of yet another chaotic travel event, with 14 million passengers taking to the skies for this glorious three day weekend brought to you by unions (you’re welcome), we are here to help. Much of this won’t apply for business or first class passengers, but that’s OK. Folks used to traveling like that are already used to following a completely different set of rules than the rest of us.
#1 Do not under any circumstances mess with the flight crew or cabin attendants. You do what they say or leave.
I have a solution for this.

Same goes for the TSA goonies.
Never greet your dear friend Jack at an airport loudly by his first name.
What kept you from posting the rest of this clickbait?
Oh, I see. It’s a slideshow.
Go to your mobile device. I read this entire article the other day - without clicking through endless slides.
Yes, it’s a simple rule and all is well if everybody follows it.
From the cabin side...
#2 Do not slam your seat back against the knees of the person seated behind you.
#3 Do not drink too much
I have one personal rule at the TSA x-ray station: If you're going to make me take off my belt and shoes, then I'm going to put back on my belt and shoes at the security area in however long it takes me to do so.
Please provide ample seating for travelers to re-dress before moving out into the terminal area. I don't want to become a victim of pickpockets because I'm distracted putting back on what TSA made me take off.
Pretend Other People Exist
This one bugs me at crowded places like Disneyland or convention centers/concert arenas or even cruise ships.
A family or group of people will ride up/down an escalator or elevator and then stop right where they get off to converse about what to do next. Meanwhile, the escalator isn't stopping delivering more people to that exact spot.
Move away from the conveyer and then have your group discussion.

If you fly take a red eye. The entitled ones aren't up that early.
TSA is made up of some of the dumbest people on the planet.
If one steps on your rights, report them to the shift supervisor.
I have done this three times.
One time I was going through the TSA cattle chute when this little boy in front of me had his plastic toy taken from him. It was a plastic pirate sword about ten inches long. He was bursting out in tears. Since I’m an FFDO (I carry a firearm on the flight deck) and I had my bag with me. I reached over and took the sword right out of the TSA goon’s hand and placed in in my bag. The agent freaked out and started calling in help. I flat told him my bag is out of his bounds since it contained my service weapon. His boss came over and clued him in. After boarding I went back into the cabin and gave back him his toy sword.
And don’t have your kid slamming the back of the seat in front of him with his feet.
“And don’t have your kid slamming the back of the seat in front of him with his feet.”
Amen to that! Many times I’ve experienced that and have had to deal with it. It is shocking how ignorant and oblivious the parents are to their kids behavior.
So do I.
I refuse to fly.
Today you might as well go greyhound ... as a matter of fact it would probably be move enjoyable.
