I add a dash of xanthan gum to it, mix it up to thicken, and
use it as replacement for ricotta cheese in lasagna or whatever.
Hey, if you venture out of Italian culinary influenced parts of the
country, sometimes really good ricotta can be hard to find.
Small curd, 4% fat, not real choosy about brands. Cottage cheese on toast has been a comfort food since I was little. No ketchup, though, just salt and pepper or else Tony Chachere’s Cajun Seasoning. My wife likes to dip cottage cheese on potato chips.
“Low Fat” and cottage cheese do not belong together in the same sentence.
The people writing this article should be ashamed for that. They didn’t include Anderson-Ericson brand in testing either, further indication they don’t have a clue.
Walmart’s GV small curd, drizzle on some brown gravy .. yummm !
32 oz @ $3
Everybody’s cottage cheese is too soupy now. I remember spooning it out of the tub, and it practically held its shape, like ice cream.
The only one I really like anymore is Penn Maid. Full fat. It’s “dry,” compared to the others, and just the right tanginess.
Anyway, a giant scoop of cottage cheese topped with fruit cocktail was my go-to in the dorm cafeteria, when dinner didn’t appeal.
Agree! Kroger large curd is my fav. Great fresh flavor, never too soupy or too dry. Always have cottage cheese in the fridge.
I read recently that cottage cheese had languished for years as a fuddy duddy food. Recently, however, it has become very popular among the younger crowd.
Cottage cheese, once the domain of grandmas and fad dieters, is now the hip dairy food of Gen Z
It's not bad, but the 'tang' is artificial, scripted by their choice of cultures, not unlike a brewer using specific hops.
Uncanny Valley cottage cheese sucks, as does every Kroger brand, including SimpleTruth.
Breakstone -- even though it is Kraft -- belonged in this testing, their single-serving + fruit sidecar will serve as a fast, go-to breakfast or lunch.
The real discussion here is why Kite Hill or Chobani refuse to get into the market.
Meanwhile, good luck finding the real winner -- Muuna cottage cheese -- anywhere but online, but my wife can get her La Fermière yogurt at Put-A-WHole-In-Your-Wallet Foods, no one will stock Muuna.
Cottage cheese and fruit cocktail— the way my granny had it. Yum. None of it tastes quite like my granny’s but Great Value or Daisy will do if I use extra cherry fruit cocktail. :)

UTZ pickle potato chips and cottage cheese is one of my favs.
On the odd day I sprinkle Old bay seasoning on a half cup. Yum
Yeah, the test here has much to be desired.
It did not include ease of snorting.
Hunter not consulted.
Aldi brand is amazing.
Kemps mixed in Cottage cheese with Chives. Kroger carries it here.
In the 60s and 70s a scoop of cottage cheese on lettuce with fruit salad sprinkled on and around it was considered a “diet” plate. Haven’t seen it since then but I’ve been known sprinkle dole pineapple chunks on mine.
“The history of Angel Dip, as far back as I can remember (mid-1960s), is it was originally produced by ‘House of Herbs’ in Passaic, NJ. (I still have a couple of jars, sadly emptied long ago of their contents.)”
“Sometime in the mid ‘70’s Pulaski Brands of Clifton, NJ took over some of the ‘House of Herbs’ products, including Pink Poppy Dip, Danish Dill Dip, Pepper Upper, Dip Delight and, the most coveted of all, Angel Dip. In 1986 I order 30 jars of Angel Dip and few jars of their other dips as family Christmas presents... they still talk about it to this day. LOL!”
“I just called ‘Herbal House’ (74 Mt. Airy Road, Bernardsville NJ 07924, (UPDATE: 908-953-0863 (ask for Stan)... a woman answered with just a “Hello...?” and my heart sank, thinking I’d reached a re-assigned home telephone number. Arrgh...”
“But I persevered... and yes, this is the phone number for ‘Herbal House’ and yes, they do produce the original ‘House of Herbs’ Angel Dip, along w/ all the other dips, too. :-)”
“They don’t have a web site nor do they accept credit cards, so be prepared to provide a FAX phone # or your address to receive their brochure.”
Whey!
Wrong, large curd, LOL
That’s because the vast majority is picked green in Mexico, gassed for the trip to wherever and then gassed again for color!
I bitch about it all the time.
I am from Florida but live in VA now and there is No Reason the markets here couldn’t get the tomatoes from there ... Year round!
For some reason they prefer the 3500 mile trip from Mexico rather than the 700 mile trip from down home!😡
