Pet lovers, my 11 year old pug started showing first symptoms 2 weeks ago and was diagnosed last week with metatstic lung cancer. Desperate to find veterinary oncologists. Most have no appointments until mid-September. Finally got appointment for Thursday. He's in very rough shape. I'm praying often for healing. Anybody who has been through this kind of thing knows how devastating it is. Any help is appreciated.
Not good.
Dittos x10.
Many years ago Arthur the ancient Doberman passed away as I slept on the floor holding him.
My dad came in and took Arthur away without waking me up and buried him up on the ridge above my house.
The next night, we had about 2 inches of snow and when I went out the front door at dawn, outside the yard gate was a set of dog paw prints leading down from that ridge.
I could see where they stopped and the maker walked around for a bit.
Then they continued down my lane and cut across the neighbors yard heading due west.
I ran out and followed the tracks but at the base of the hill up to the road, they stopped and simply disappeared.
None on the hill or road at all.
I believe that Arthur had come to say goodbye before he went “ into the west”.
Now I wish I’d gone up the lane to see where they began because dad couldn’t remember the exact spot he’d buried my boy.
So sorry for your situation with your beloved pug. Your worry is totally understandable. We went through the same distress recently, only it was with cats. Lost three feline family members, that broke our hearts, but they knew they were loved. Dogs respond to treatment in your situation better than cats do. Be assured of our support and prayers.
Prayers for your dog’s health and healing.
This is so tough; I have asked the Father for healing for your pup.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
💔
Praying for your beloved pup and you. My Pinky was diagnosed with cancer at 10, lived for a couple more happy years. Her vet didn’t recommend treatment at her age. She died happy at home in our arms on Sunday. She was scheduled to be put to sleep the next day but didn’t make it.
It’s tough. I still miss her terribly. God is in control of all and we put ourselves into His hands.
Such a hard thing - praying for both of you. I had to put down a dog in 2020 with osteosarcoma. The vet said amputation/treatment would only give him a few more months and he was. Great Pyr, so it would have been an especially difficult recovery. So as much as I hated to say goodbye, I chose to put him down when I could no longer make him comfortable with pain meds.
Yes— we need to think of them first. Pets are dear to us.
I didn’t see your posting till now. I hope things turned out right for you two. Life isn’t worth living without dogs. If only people were more like them.
Thank you from the heart! Sadly, It ended most tragically and I am nowhere near over it. PTSD. Godspeed and long live dogs.
Oh so sorry, Bone :(. Prayers up for you. You have many friends here to help you through.
Thank you. Grief is a cruel master. Plenty of it to go around and it’s all profoundly personal. You are kind and understanding. Godspeed.
Someone sent me this recently and it sat well. I hope it sits well with you. (And it doesn’t matter if it’s person or pet. We have rescued cats..later in life for me. So when we had to say goodbye I was utterly bereft)
LOVE CAME FIRST
You don’t move on after loss, but you must move with.
You must shake hands with grief, welcome her in, for she lives with you now. Pull her a chair at the table and offer her comfort. She is not the monster you first thought her to be. She is love. And she will walk with you now, stay with you now, peacefully. If you let her. And on the days when your anger is high, remember why she came, remember who she represents. Remember.
Grief came to you, my friend, because love came first.
❤️
Kind thanks. Although I can’t deal with it now, every little bit helps incrementally over time.
Hang in there. We have you.
👍
Prayer for your best friend and for you.
Toughest thing I’ve ever felt in 83 years. Thanks mate.
