How cool that he morphed his rock career into movie music, worked with Scorsese, AND he “recently completed his fourteenth film music project” — at age 80. Wow. A life well lived.

Sad news. But no tragedy if you make it to 80.

RIP. Garth Hudson is 86. I think it’s a one-man Band now.

I like the video of The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.
You just didn’t see too many tubas in the bands back then.

It has become a tradition to play The Last Waltz on Thanksgiving night every year. They were amongst the best ever.

Of course he wasn’t really the leader. He was the guy most comfortable talking to a camera. And got along great with Scorsese. There was a lot of bad blood after the movie. Had a great run of post Band albums too. This one stings.

Damn, I’m gonna have to play The Last Waltz tonight.
RIP, Robbie.

Rock’n Ronnie Hawkins told the ‘Band’ that he couldn’t pay them much... But he did promise them that they’d ‘get more p*ssy than Frank Sinatra’... And Frank was getting a very large share of it back in those days.

Sad news. The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down is absolutely one of my all-time favorites, and I always thought it ironic that this band of almost all Canadians (except for Levon Helm) could do such an American song in such an iconic American way. RIP Robbie Robertson. Thanks for the music.

A friend of mine described Robertson's playing style as 'falling off the stage'.
I believe he also did the soundtrack for Scent of a Woman (not a Scorsese flick). Regardless of what you think of the flick the score was fabulous.

When I was in Vietnam in 1968 we had only a dozen rock albums. The post exchange of course was always full of Country. But one of those dozen albums was Music From Big Pink. I must’ve heard it 200 times and never tried of it. I still listen to it from time to time. RIP, Robbie
