"Sleep Walk" is an instrumental song written, recorded, and released in 1959 by American instrumental rock and roll duo Santo & Johnny Farina, with their uncle Mike Dee playing the drums. Prominently featuring steel guitar, the song was recorded at Trinity Music in Manhattan, New York City. "Sleep Walk" entered Billboard's Top 40 on August 17, 1959. It rose to the number 1 position for the last two weeks in September and remained in the Top 40 until November 9.
I remember that one. I never knew who did it.
I didn’t know what that sound was. It was too early for synthesizers, so I thought either a guitar or a musical saw.
The melody almost sounds Hawaiian.
Very nice. The Boys are all dressed up too.
That must have been their biggest hit.
Classic——soooooooooo good!!!
Thank You for posting—needed a moment of brevity and a reminder of a queiter, gentler time—
Here’s Jeff Beck doing Sleepwalk. It’s poignant because you can sense his reverence for the original:

When I was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS one of my favorite watering holes was the Rockhouse Pizza Plus in Ogden. There was a local regular who would always play this on the jukebox. 30+ years on and that’s still the first thing that comes to mind when I hear this song.
Several years ago, saw Johnny Farina live as part of an oldies show. Though he was the original guitarist, he was alone playing the steel guitar which his brother Santo played in the video.
Look at that guitar 🎸
Wish I had a nickel for every time I played this song when I was in a rock band.
Was the closing theme for the great Art Laboe’s Los Angeles based radio show for many, many years.
Oh, yes. And Apache, Telestar and anything by Dick Dale...
This is a great rendition of the tune - hard to find online now (used to be on YouTube and Vimeo, but no longer). Sonny Landreth (at the far right) is a beast of a slide guitar player. He possesses a unique, identifiable sound and tone that cuts through, even when he's sharing the stage with the likes of Eric Clapton or Mark Knopfler.
Amazing
Funny - just saw a commercial yesterday using Sleepwalk.
As it is, I loved this back in the day on the oldies station, and then almost like that it was the theme for LaBamba with the death scenes.
So, it’s been kind of stamped for me.
Read/watch later.
It is the opening song for Richie Valens movie.
The most sensuous song ever - slow dancing to it was almost like, well, you know...
Great song. Brian Setzer won a grammy for his remake in 1998.
