DeSantis says Trump can't win in a general election: 'Those are just the realities'
Fox News ^ | July 31, 2023 | Ashley Carnahan

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sat down with "Special Report" on Monday for a wide-ranging interview, offering insight into whether former President Donald Trump can win in a general election.

DeSantis said he doesn’t believe Trump can win in 2024 because there are "too many voters who just aren't going to vote for him going forward."

"I saw it in Florida in my re-election. You know, I won the first time by less than a percent, second time by ‘20. Why did people vote against me in ‘18 but then voted for me in ‘22? The number one reason they gave was because of Trump."

"Because in ‘18 they said that they were voting against Trump. Voting against me, to vote against Trump, even though they didn't know much about me," he said. The Florida governor handily won re-election in November 2022, defeating Democratic candidate Charlie Christ by nearly 20 points.

DeSantis also told host Bret Baier that Trump can’t win crucial states like Georgia and Arizona in a general election.

"The polls that come out… I beat Biden in Georgia. Trump doesn't. I beat Biden soundly in Arizona. Trump doesn't. Those are just the realities," he said.

"And I also think in terms of the base, you need to have a cadre of personnel. If you want to slay this administrative state, you've got to be disciplined, you've got to be focused, and you've got to have people surrounding you that are going to go and support the mission. I think the former president would have a very difficult time getting the type of personnel to join the administration that you would need to actually bring this stuff to fruition," he continued.

You’re correct..draining the swamp is nothing new from Trump. He now has solid evidence of it that and now it’s ever so obvious. Only a fool can’t see that. DeSantis is not known for playing nice with his enemies either. Such bs.

Question: Where can an American man go to get the fighting spirit sucked out of him like you have?

Saddest thing ever. Watching this country circle the drain.

Although I truly enjoy the military empire dying.

NO Republican will win in 2024 if the Democrats are allowed to cheat like they did in 2020 and 2022!

Corrupted elections lead to corrupt “leaders!”

Somehow, someway, We the People MUST demand and get FRee and Fair elections!

DeSanctus can’t win the primary.

He should drop out, endorse Trump.

Devote all unspent funds to fixing the fraud now.

If the Deep State can prevent Trump from winning, as they did in 2020, they can certainly do the same thing to DeSantis. Remember what Xo Xiden told us:

"We have put together I think the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics.”

This is what I don’t understand about the DeSantis supporters. Their logic (and DeSantis’) Logic does not make sense.

If he can not win the primary, he can not win the general election. And not just because of the mechanics of not being the nominee. It is because he doesn’t have the support and excitement to win.

His only chance of getting the nominee is if Trump drops out. But that isn’t really winning, is it? He can’t beat Trump. And if he gets the nomination by having it handed to him (Trump dropping out) no one is going to be excited about his candidacy.

I’m not saying that Trump isn’t going to face challenges winning the general election. But DeSantis is a complete non-starter.

Yeah - the guy who got the actual most votes in history hasn’t got a chance - and if he’s the candidate, many will “prove the point” by voting for some “ Virgil Goode” type candidate....and seal our doom.

Think about the source. He believes he is so viable that he puts his name in the election. But, only gets single digits in Ohio.

Might not want to rely on this guy’s judgment when it comes to reading the political winds.

Btw. That has become the rallying cry for all never trumpets.

I guess your beliefs are not influenced by rallies, turning point or any # of polls showing 71% of GOP voters stand with Trump ... You prefer the polls where the MSM tries to depress enthusiasm and create mischief?

The recent Turning Point USA conference brought thousands of young conservatives to Florida and there was no doubting the main attraction: former president Donald Trump, who made a glitzy entrance accompanied by giant stage sparklers. In a less than rigorous poll, 86% of attendees gave Trump as their first choice for president; DeSantis, who polled 19% last year, was down to 4%.

I am voting for DeSantis if he is on the ballot. I,of course will vote for Trump if he is the only one left. Both the left wing media and the maga types are attempting to smear DeSantis

Your Uni Party thinks once Donald J Trump is defeated — either behind bars, electoral win taken (again), or dead, yes I wrote rhat, the base will support the Uni Party candidate to keep the evil liberal democrat out of office. Your Uni Party really thinks that little of the base. Believe it at your ultimate wake up call.

The last Republican lawyer in the White House was Gerald Ford. The last lawyer to win the GOP nomination in a presidential election was Bob Dole.

You’d be hard pressed to find a more insufferable group of losers than Republican lawyers in national politics.

This is why DeSantis is going nowhere.

It's a good test for DeSantis. The Democrats fight dirty. So at least he's getting good practice in the primaries and even if he does not prevail this time, he will be ready for 2028.

“ I guess your beliefs are not influenced by rallies,”
No they are not, same reason as what I explained here on FR.

“You prefer the polls where the MSM trues to depress enthusiasm?”
No what would you say such an accusatory thing? I hate MSM and what did I say that makes you think that?

“..86% of attendees gave Trump….Desantis who polled 19%..,”.
Yes Desantis seems to be falling, Trump is strong right now but will that carry over to moderates, women etc? That is my fear that the conservative core will carry him back to the nomination only to see a repeat of 2020 when the mods and females, minorities will vote for Biden. Repeat.

You know the saying the best predictor of future behavior is the past behavior?
I’d like to see Trump back but I’m just another of his conservative core.

It looks to me that DeSantis can’t even win in a primary election, how would he be able to win in a general election?
