Many foundational pillars of society in the United States appear to be crumbling right now before our eyes, weakened by an erosive array of social, economic and political forces.

The deterioration of traditional cultural norms and the social upheaval that’s followed — from the living room to classroom the boardroom — is no surprise to Ayn Rand scholars.

The celebrated Russian-born American author and philosopher predicted with haunting accuracy many of the nation’s current crises.

Among her observations: Government would encroach on parental rights, stifle academic and scientific research, and fuel a dangerous mentality of victimhood.

An example of claims of love hiding violence is the current .gov claim “We love blacks so much we are going to ban menthol cigarettes—for their own good.”

Throwing smokers in jail is not exactly “love”.

I was 10 when we would go to the library in the summer. I loved science so UFO books were on my list. My mom wanted me to read something more educational, so the librarian handed me a stack of Alice O’Connor (pen name Ayn Rand) writings. She was a feminist, so she violated her own concepts, but she came from and knew of the totalitarianism of Marxism. I was hooked. A few years later Rush became my favorite band simply because they wrote song of her works, songs like Anthem, Bastille Day, and 2112.

Brook is too much of an Obleftivist who thinks the left has won, so he wants to be accepted by them. He was also way too deferential to the expert class when Fauci was more like Dr Floyd Ferris from the State Science Institute.

Ayn Rand (1905-1982) was brilliant and correct about America being the best country ever in history for having the strength to conquer the world and for not doing so. However, Rand was not smart enough to acknowledge the Principal Agent and the Supreme Judge mentioned by George Washington. What can the Lord do? “If only My people would listen to Me, how soon I would subdue their enemies” (Psalm 81: 13).

Nowadays especially, it might be time to consider taking refuge at Galt's Gulch, sheltering in place, until the winds of change cycle around.   Here of late, the powers that be are willing to hunt individuals out.

I agree Rand missed the influence and comfort Christianity had on the American Triumph.

I believe the comfort would have been a blessing to her personal life, and I believe America has faltered because of the misuse and deliberate misunderstanding of "Separation" of Church and State.

She was a feminist...

Ayn was brilliant, but she occasionally needed a spanking so she wouldn't think about that brilliance so much.

Yes...I believe people will need to be digging in the dirt for food before we see positive change.

it’s not a surrender but a strategy to let the system to burn to the ground hoping to rebuild it at some point in the future.

I think Leftists want it to burn to the ground, too. They just think that they'll be the ones to re-build it under their guiding principles. Their infrastructure is all in place.

I’m sure they do and that is when some type of battle takes place, I am hoping against all hope it’s not violent.
