Three individuals still at large after assaulting 68-year-old woman (Source: Rincon Police Department) (Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A Georgia woman, Donna Hansbrough, aged 68, was terminated from her job at Lowe’s after taking matters into her own hands to stop three brazen shoplifters who had stolen thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.
Hansbrough had been a dedicated employee at the company for 13 years until the incident occurred. According to Lowe’s, her termination was based on her violation of company policy against personally restraining shoplifters, even though her intentions were to prevent theft.
In an interview with the Effingham Herald, Hansbrough recounted the harrowing experience. She explained, “They say that if you see somebody stealing something out the door, not to pursue, not to go out. I lost it.” She further added, “I grabbed the cart. I don’t actually remember going out but I did. And I grabbed the cart that had the stolen items in [it].”
During the incident, one of the alleged perpetrators allegedly punched the 68-year-old woman in the face three times, causing her to sustain a black eye and injuries.
Law enforcement officials are currently searching for the accused perpetrators – Takyah Berry, Joseph Berry, and Jamar Lawton. They have released photos of these individuals and called on the community to report any sightings or information related to their whereabouts.
Responding to her termination, Hansbrough expressed her shock, saying, “didn’t expect to get terminated, maybe a reprimand or a suspension. I just got tired of seeing things get out the door. I just, I lost it. I basically lost all the training. Everything they tell you to do, I just…I just lost it.”
Hansbrough began her career at Lowe’s as a cashier and was later promoted to live-nursery specialist, showcasing her extensive experience in the field. However, she most recently worked as a customer service associate in the plans department before she was abruptly terminated.
Despite the traumatic incident, Hansbrough remains resilient and determined to find a new job. She asserted, “I can’t sit at home. I’m not that type of person,” and expressed her willingness to testify if law enforcement requires her cooperation.
Though she is still in the process of recovering from her injuries, there has been a decrease in the swelling around her eye since the incident occurred.
You are correct, race does not have anything to do with it. I worked p/t at The Home Depot for a few years. Same policy. Blacks, whites, Hispanics, they all steal crap. Most are drug abusers who sell the stolen property for drug money.
Late one evening, I was working in the garden center and chatting with the cashier just before locking up the gates. I looked up to see some white guy running at a steady pace from the direction of the front entrance. As he came closer I noticed he had 3 or 4 boxes of power tools. He ran right by me and to a car that was idling at the far end of the parking lot. I could have easily taken him down. But they weren’t paying me enough to risk some crack head pulling out a gun on me.
We had one white guy in his 50s we called Spiderman. For a year or more we could never catch him but he always left the packaging behind (with the theft sensor attached) in the upper reaches of the shelving. Another evening, a customer wanted a lawnmower and the only one of that model was in “overhead” (top of the shelving). I got the reach truck and pulled the box down. Sitting on the top of the box were a couple of empty DeWalt drill boxes.
If you could see your way clear toward taking that back, This Guy would appreciate it.
And she could have shot them and ended their careers.
you are not wrong.
I figure they will funnel her donations to the fake kidnap victim in Alabama.
Can she (potentially successfully) sue Lowes for the injury she sustained?
I guess the woman maybe made a mistake thinking she could stop these perps, but at at the same time she was trying to protect the store’s best interests. Now she gets fired. Let’s just say she didn’t try to prevent his; just let it happen. The three perps might possibly get away with it & this would encourage others to try the same thing another time. After awhile, the store decides it’s just not worth it & decides to close up shop, especially if this sort of thing has occurred at other Lowes stores. This lady is out of a job either way, but possibly without injuries by doing it according to store rules. However it’s the same old situation at the store if it keeps getting “lifted”. If the wheels of justice would do their part this might not have to be an ongoing situation. The normal punishments for this crime(if there are any) just aren’t working, but there are other methods yet untried.
That is common knowledge around where I live... A suburb of Detroit... And, my own daughters told me of it almost 10 years ago as teenagers. I asked em one day as we walked thru a crowded venue... “Hey you guys what’s up with the pink and purple hair streaks?”. They both said it at the same time... “Black bait”... I couldn’t believe it!!
All good points thx. -OGINJ
I just love the “let them take it crowd” cause it’s potentially cheaper to just take a loss, than be sued, or pay medical bills.
SHEESH, what has this world become?
Why not just hand out free sh!t at the door b4 they ever walk in?
Ask em what they want, and save em a few steps while they’re at it! I mean shoplifters should’nt have to walk to get their freebies, right??
This case shows why it's insane to hire women to work in hardware stores anywhere but flooring and appliances. The clientele--and the occasional criminals--are 90 percent male. What frightens ferals and Mexican border crashers is not committing an impropriety and having a finger wagged at them as they fly by in a cart packed with chainsaws and generators. It's getting the crap beaten out of them by men with access to garden implements.
This kind of wholesale gate-crashing would be impossible without female cashiers.
I would be accidentally dropping very heavy items in close proximity to assholes like this. Maybe almost trip someone with a 2x4 or push an entire display of tools over on them by accident.
It doesn’t matter. They are the right color. The Law protects them. They are free to do as they please without fear of consequences. heaven help the Policeman/woman who attempts to arrest them.
Savages are allowed to get away this.
America cannot survive this tolerance for theft.
Those who are honest and pay for merchandise are fools and suckers.
I’ve personally watched em go into a Lowes, take a shopping cart and go to the ladder section. Then, take a ladder, go to the electrical section and use the ladder to get up high to where full cartons are stored, load two carts chock full of panels, breakers, outlets, Romex, etc. and just walk out the door with it... NOT one single solitary soul, including myself, was gonna interfere with their “reparations”.
It’s unsustainable.

Consumers, employees, and stockholders are suffering because company managements find it easier on them and and less risky legally to let thieves walk out the door. Stores are closing. A legislative fix is needed. Ignore the libertarian objections.
We have a Lowes and a Home Depot.
We were in Home Depot last weekend and was shocked to see they had locked up previously accessible merchandise behind bars.
You had to get a employee from somewhere to come and unlock the gate to get the merchandise.
We left....................
Yeah, well, the shade of red in question in this case is legit, in that, many individuals, including women, come by it naturally.
Not that those that come by it by other means can’t be spotted, or at least guessed at. That said, even if it’s obvious that they arrived at that (once again-natural, even if rare) color through chemistry, do they really deserve to be presented with such a crass indictment?
Businesses that allow themselves to be robbed are not safe places to shop
That might have been a fine, sensible idea. But most of these stores don't have security anymore, so afraid are they of liability if the security guy or the perp is hurt. They leave their employees--and customers--in a lawless zone. This cr*p will get way worse before it gets better.
I think it will take a sane Supreme Court ruling to eliminate the "rights" of thieves in these cases. As far as I'm concerned, if you're a looter, you get shot. That's how it is with looters. Just because it's daytime doesn't mean they're not looters.
The White woman was fired. Meanwhile, the three street savages have the stolen items and are scot free.
Message from the left: Whiteys need to bow down to their new masters and let them take whatever they want from Whitey because Whitey is slated for elimination, when all his money is gone.
One solution: get hundreds of people to go in to the store, load up the carts with the most expensive items they can find, take the cart up to the cashier ….. and leave it there and walk out!
