Do Leftists Believe What They Claim to Believe?
American Thinker ^ | 23 Jul, 2023 | Greg Irwin

The short answer is no. The long answer explains why it's impossible to have an argument with them.

Do leftists believe what they say they believe? And if not, how would we know?

On key issues, the evidence shows that their positions cannot be taken at face value.

In "Barack Obama's Rules for Revolution: The Alinsky Model", David Horowitz quoted an SDS radical who wrote, "The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution." In other words, when the left picks an issue to demonstrate on, the issue itself is seen as a step to bigger goals.

Let us look at a few such issues.

While many undoubtably believe in the dangers of man's contribution to global warming, consider Christine Stewart — former Canadian environment minister — who said, "No matter if the science is all phony, there are still collateral environmental benefits. ... Climate change [provides] the greatest chance to bring about justice and equality in the world."

So if you were to debate Christine Stewart on E.V.s or wind turbines, for example, you would not persuade her, because you would not be arguing against "social justice," which is the deeper issue.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, admitted that the true motivation behind her Green New Deal, which proposes transitioning the U.S. economy away from all fossil fuels in ten years, is to overhaul the "entire economy." Note that AOC didn't call the Green New Deal the "Socialist New Deal," even though the Green Party site says it is a "major step towards ending unemployment for good and a tool to fight the corporate takeover of our democracy and exploitation of the poor."

"The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution."

But what if most people don't want your revolution?

I used to think that liberals believed a lot of shaky garbage that was on the margins of reality. Then the trannie issue came to the fore and it was clear they had abandoned all reason and truth and inhabited a total fantasy world. Up had become down, black was white and two plus two became three. Their minds became totally occupied by the political narrative and rational thought was discarded. 1984 was late but had arrived nonetheless.

Yes they believe it, but since their belief system is broken down in 5 minute intervals they are always changing depending on what the cool people are saying.

A couple of points. First “environmentalism is the new communism”. An elderly gentleman told me way back when that environmentalists at a meeting had admitted their real target was capitalism.

Second, they use this to try and destroy everything about modern society and to leave the common person destitute.

I didn’t have a chance to post one, but every Summer there are articles attempting to abolish tourism (for the common masses) for all kinds of elitist reasons.
There’s a particularly offensive article in the Financial Times right now which states clearly tourism is so importsnt to world economies, but are we ready to “take on capitalism” to abolish it for the common people.

Many reasons including global warming were given, but also sickening elitist reasons by the leftist author. For example, a woman once had her speaker phone on in the balcony next to his in Amsterdam. So let’s abolish the tourist industry.

“While many undoubtably believe in the dangers of man’s contribution to global warming, ….”

I don’t understand how a rational thinking person could buy into some thing so wildly unlikely. In the first sixty seconds that I considered the thing I thought of the size of the globe. The relatively small amount that is land and then the even smaller, not to say tiny , footprint man has on the land. Man can poison his locality easy enough but alter the forces that govern the globe? Not even maybe. Then there is the belief that an all powerful Creator would so seriously under spec His planet that would cause problems that have nothing to do with anything that He wrote about in his Book.

No liberals don’t believe most of what they say. They just want you to waste your time arguing with them about nonsense.

Being ignorant and in many, many instances uneducable, leftists know very little. They act on a consensus having no basis in reality. They seek what is most comfortable and selfish.

The BLM movement was a complete political hoax but was effective in soliciting the ignorati riff raff

This article demonstrates that CW II is already on. Our wonderfully brilliant GOP either doesn’t care, is on the libs side, is actually too dumb to notice, or finally what I think is going on.

The GOP is afraid and intends just to watch it happen when the Democrats finally announce that they are the real communist rulers.

There are useful idiots who believe the propaganda. They think we’ll all die in (five point something years?) You can’t argue or reason with them because they aren’t knowledgeable enough. If they were, they wouldn’t be believers. But they vote. They influence others with little knowledge.

The number of people who have little knowledge and no ability to reason is increasing daily because the Left owns the propaganda institutions. (Schools, the media, TikTok, Facebook, etc.)

It varies from person to person. Some know theyre lying while pushing their ideas and beliefs. Others truly believe in every phony word they say.

My brother gets his news strictly from the likes of the young turks and occupy democrats. Believes in every falsehood they spew. Never, ever seeks out alternative sources with different points of view. He still believes Trump colluded with Russia because his usual sources he relies on has as of yet to inform him it was a hoax.

To hear my brother tell it, Republicans are responsible for everything that’s wrong with the country. Everything. He’s totally brainwashed.

One time he ranted and raved how the Republicans ruined the south. In particular, he singled out Marjorie Taylor Greene (”that representative from Georgia” - he didn’t even know her name) as the one who ruined Georgia.

I tried to get him to give me specifics, what was wrong with Georgia, how she personally ruined georgia, what powers did she have that caused it, what about the local officials such as their governor, mayors, councilmen, etc (I asked him who the governor of Georgia was and he said he didn’t know). All he said was “I don’t know, but she caused it!”

Another time, he had just been discharged from the hospital. Trump had just announced his intention to run for re-election. I was driving him home from the hospital when he ranted and raved how trumps son in law, Jared kushner sold American top secrets to hostile foreign powers and ranted about the bad health care system, and how the Republicans in the senate are responsible. When pointed out that the Republicans are in the minority in the senate, he still insisted they’re the ones responsible.

I swear, if there was only one single elected republican in the entire country, a local councilman in some Midwestern town, my brother would lay at his feet the blame for literally everything bad that was going on in this country and the world.

In Real life

If I plan on debating or reasoning with some one I always ask a few questions first

1 Do you beleive in absolute truth ?

if they answer yes I proceed with the conversation

If they answer no I ask

Do you absolutely beleive it’s true there is no absolute truth ?

( at that point one needs a face shield to protect from flying spittle and ear plugs to shield from screeches or a map to follow their next run on sentances )

Works
Every
Time

No, they are liars. They say whatever they need to say to get what they want.

When they want more of your money, or more control over your life, they invent some crisis to justify it. But it’s all lies.
