f there is any substance to a campaign to suppress the box office, the film’s distributors have the potential for a humongous lawsuit, probably involving triple damages.
We have received multiple emails from people saying that theaters are telling patrons that air-conditioning is broken in the auditoriums showing the hit movie Sound of Freedom, and offering another movie or a refund. Many people fear a campaign is underway to suppress the box office totals for the film, which exposes the sex trafficking of children. The box office success of SoF is particularly embarrassing for Disney, whose ridiculously expensive Indiana Jones movie is performing poorly and unlikely to earn a profit, because Disney reportedly sat on the rights to distribute Sound of Freedom for five years, only to relinquish the rights and see it become a smash hit. Unhappy shareholders may well question the wisdom of retaining current management if SoF becomes a mega-hit based on word of mouth.
I was skeptical that theater managers would deliberately turn away business, especially with a potential blockbuster on their hands. Summer blockbusters are how most theatres are able to stay in business. And theatre managers’ jobs depend on filling seats and staying out of the red.
As one emailer wrote, this is not necessarily a conspiracy:
FYI, I don’t habitually wear a tinfoil hat. Maybe (I dunno) a/c failures are random and common; so managers rationally put the expected-low-boxoffice film in the crippled room.
But reports continue to proliferate of mysterious outages of air-conditioning in just one screen at multiplexes. The video below purports to compile stories of this happening all across the country: [video at link, make sure you watch after the video ends to see comments made by dozens of people in different places had no AC either]

Has AMC been openly leftist in the past?
The forces of evil are relentless.
Here is a disgusting child rapist just arrested in KY.

Perverts gonna be perverts.
I’m looking at you democrats
Why the gimmick? If the purpose is to suppress the film, just don’t show it!
I saw the movie Friday night in Kankakee, IL... the theater was comfortable the whole night.
One particular truck stop chain controls the thermostats remotely from headquarters. I assume other companies can do the same.
I would not in a million years discount this. The Left, at all levels, has shown that there is no level of detail they are not prepared to leverage to advance their agenda.
It is worth looking into. How difficult would it be to find out what theaters are in question, and get verification that there were issues with the AC before the movie was released, or that a company can verify there is an open support case with their vendor who services their infrastructure?
If it really were an issue, I am sure the theater chain would readily provide that information (provided it wasn’t just gun-decked after the fact)
Perhaps the theaters should just sprinkle hot pepper in the AC ducts so everyone starts sneezing and has to leave the theater.
Why would a theater want to lose money?
So theater chains are going to sabotage their own business because of a controversial movie that is making money for them? It’s tough enough to get people into the seats as it is. I was at a movie yesterday and it cost more more the coke and food than what the admission was. Way too much conspiracy crap on everything these days. Sounds like a plot from “Undercover Brother”!
Why would Bud wanna lose money?
Why would Disney?
FNC?
Coca Cola?
Gillette?
Pro sports?
See where I’m going with this.
It’s not about the money.
Not to Deep State.
They aren’t conspiracy theories.
They’re spoilers.
They’re owned by the Chinese, so yes.
Not sure if this really was a purposeful thing or not, but there really is on purpose I would suspect the theater schedule was set before the cancel culture imams issued their fatwa against it.
I’m thinking, if this is true, that big money studios might have worked a “deal” with theaters.

AMC pulls documentary featuring detransitioners from theaters in face of pressure
Yes, they are.
I agree. At the point the patrons are in the theater, they’ve paid for their ticket. If they leave halfways through, well the theater still has the money.
