* Researchers at Oxford University ranked 184 countries by calorie consumption
* US came 2nd overall, while the UK ranked at 26th position in the tally

America is known for its big portion sizes and even bigger obesity problem — and this map reveals why.
People in the US consume an average of 3,868 calories per day, the second-highest number of any country in the world.
It is eclipsed only by Bahrain, in the Middle East, where people consumed more than 4,000 calories per day on average.
That's according to research by Oxford University-based OurWorldInData, which compiled figures on calorie consumption by country from the United Nations.
The UK ranked 26th overall, with the average person making their way through 3,422
Out of the 184 countries surveyed for the study, 173 consumed more than 2,000 calories per day — or above the recommended daily average for both sexes.
Researchers warn over-consumption is driving up obesity — with 1billion people now obese compared to 175million in the 1970s — and fuelling associated health problems including high blood pressure, heart disease and even Alzheimer's.
Top of the list was Bahrain, a tiny but wealthy island nation off the coast of the Arabian peninsula.
Four in ten adults in the country are obese, data shows, which has been linked to more sedentary lifestyles and increased consumption of fast food.

Ping!.................
I guess the retards at Oxford didn’t really have anything else to do.
The waste at home and especially in restaurants is enormous.
That’s just a drop in the bucket o’chicken................
Great demonstration of Capitalism vs. Communism.
South Korea: 3404
North Korea: 2069
North Korea should market itself as a weight-loss destination.
I wonder if that calorie chart includes those from beer? Depending on the answer, the UK rankings might be in error.
If Stacey Abrams goes on a diet, we'll drop out of the top ten.
"Welcome to the DPRK New You Program! You can disembark the plane and walk this way. Speaking of bark..."
That’s it! I’m moving to Bahrain. Biden is going to build a bridge to it anyway so I guess I’ll have to fly this time.
This actually makes me doubt the 2000 calories per day guideline. We’re definitely overeating but 2000 seems too low. Is the North Korean diet really the ideal?
Euell Gibbons' dream come true!
It would also be a great demonstration of Diabetes vs diet................
To the WEF it is.........................😒
It is amazing that these people don't try Keto for just a few weeks. Some of that blubber would immediately fall away.
I did not think that the average American is actually eating 3900 calories per day. According to one website I found, "weight (lbs) * 15 (kcal) = kilocalories to maintain weight." By this formula, that amount of calories would maintain a weight of 258 pounds.
Right now, according to CDC data, in the US, the average man weighs 199.8 and the average woman weighs 170.8. Which is overweight, but not enough to account for 3868 calories consumed per day. That means a lot of food is thrown away.
Not just Walmart - all over, but it does seem to be primarily those on the lower end of the socio-economic scale.
Sure, there's plenty of overweight middle- and upper-class people, but the average is skewed heavily towards the lower end of the scales.
Maybe it's just more socially acceptable for them? No peer-pressure to eat/live healthy?
I have a hard time believing we’re about 4K per day.
I guess crap food is quite calorically dense…
