The Portland Police Bureau have arrested the white man accused of violently attacking a Black food truck owner while yelling racial slurs, according to FOX 12 News. Police say the local tips on his whereabouts were appreciated but not helpful in locating him.
The cops say they caught him as he walking on the street past traffic control.
Daniel Thomas Warren, 40, was arrested after officers saw him walking by the 12300 block of Southeast Division Street. Warren was booked in Multnomah County jail on one count of second-degree assault and currently doesn’t have a bail bond amount. It’s unclear if he will face hate crime enhancements but the Portland Police Bureau said the incident is being investigated as a bias crime.

What Happened?
Initial reports of the incident say the police thought they were responding to a pedestrian hit by a car until they arrived and saw Darell Preston’s bloodied face. The LoRell’s Chicken Shack owner told authorities he was delivering food when he was ambushed, unprovoked, by the punches and kicks of Warren. A video taken by a driver captured the incident as well as a clear view of Warren’s face as he walked away from Preston tucking his bloody knuckles into his jacket pockets. According to the Multnomah County Detention Center, Warren was sentenced in October 2021 for coercion, assault and multiple domestic violence charges.
The police bureau confirmed the case is now being investigated as a bias crime by the Major Crimes Team based on the description of Warren’s alleged racist slur tirade. However, the culprit is still at large.

If the attack was unprovoked, I hope he gets the maximum penalty that can be given.
Wonder if “The Root” will report on the 3 elderly White people beaten and stabbed to death by the male negro, the other day, in MA?
On Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 7:04p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to what was originally reported as a pedestrian struck by a car in the 3800 block of Southeast 52nd Avenue. After first responders arrived, they were told it was actually an assault. Portland Fire & Rescue was on scene before officers, and they notified PPB of the assault and that both of the men involved had already left the area. Officers began searching for the victim. A witness told officers the victim was inside one of the nearby food carts. It took officers several minutes to convince the victim to come out of the food cart to talk with them. Once outside, the officers could see that he was injured. They immediately offered to summon EMS, but he declined. The victim told officers he was delivering food and was attacked. When the officer asked for more detail on what happened, the victim declined to say more and locked himself in the cart.
The primary officer continued his investigation, including collecting evidence and seeking out and locating witnesses. He was able to obtain some video evidence. Officers got a general suspect description from a witness and searched the area while the victim was being interviewed.
Multiple attempts were made to connect with the victim and obtain a more detailed statement. The Portland Police Major Crimes Unit assigned detectives, and they were able to talk to the victim and his family on Sunday, June 18.
Is there any other kind?

I’m sure he will be given a stiff sentence. Looking at the perp’s booking photo it appears there’s something off with him… his eyes appear to be looking in different directions.

But obviously not Hateful domestic violence.
Repeal Hate Crime Law. It’s idiotic!
Well, actually yes there is. But if this was committed based solely upon hatred of skin color, then it justifiably qualifies as a hate crime. Unless they can find evidence that contradicts the current narrative that it was unprovoked. He hasn’t been charged with a hate crime yet.
If hate crime laws were actually used in all cases, and not only when the criminal was white (ok, “only” being 99.99% of the time),
IE not used hypocritically, especially given black/hispanic on white crime is far, far more prevalent than white on black/hispanic crime,
Or, if you prefer, that hate crime laws were apploed consistently and unbiased across ALL criminals of ALL demographics,
I would have much less objection to it. At least everyone would be affected if they want to commit a crime because they are racist asses.
I wish it would be the case where the races are reversed, too.
Otherwise, I am trying to care.
… We are not interested in those stupid crimes that you have committed. The Party is not interested in the overt act: the thought is all we care about. …The authors of hate crime laws think the same way as O’Brien.

This is a troll post.
Grain of salt...
You’re funny:
This is Portland, after all.

Sorry, no room. Can’t cover everything.
Space was taken up by “We’re All Eating More Kale.” and “Karine Jean Pierre Dodges Question On the Newly Discovered Spatially Modulating Superconducting State in a New and Unusual Superconductor Uranium Ditelluride.”
I remember it was screed publications such as The Root that would be among the few that capitalized “Black” when referring to humans with high concentrations of melanin in their skin.
And then after George Floyd, suddenly the “mainstream” screedmakers all became like The Root.
our reality unfortunately
Why not just let it go as assault with deadly intent? Why does every DA have to add "enhancements"? The crime itself is heinous enough.
