The UK foreign secretary, James Cleverly, has said all Nato allies are backing a plan to give Ukraine a fast track to Nato membership of the kind offered to Sweden and Finland earlier this year.
Speaking on the margins of the two-day Ukraine Recovery conference in London, Cleverly said the UK was “very, very supportive” of Ukraine being able to join Nato without the usual need for it to meet the conditions set out in a Nato membership action plan (Map).
The French foreign minister, Catherine Colonna, was more cautious but said circumstances had changed since 2008 when Ukraine was last offered Nato membership on the condition it met the terms set out in an action plan.
The issue of the terms on which Ukraine is offered Nato membership has been dividing allies before a Nato summit next month. There have been concerns in the US and Germany that early Nato membership for Ukraine might provoke Russia, and change the Nato structure.
Cleverly said the Ukrainian army through the war had modernised and aligned its weaponry with Nato to make it possible to dispense with an action plan. The offer is conceived as an alternative to offering Ukraine a timetable for membership at the Nato summit in Vilnius next month. Ukraine would like a pathway with specific dates...

One of the primary reasons this war is raging is Russia did not want the US military and weaponry right on their border that they envisioned with Ukraine NATO membership, much like we didn’t want the Soviet military and their mass destruction weaponry in Cuba and threatened war over it while putting up a blockage against the Russians. The only difference is Ukraine is not a vital national security interest to the US and the Russian kleptocracy is not the global monolithic threat the Soviet Union was. I have no issue with Ukraine having NATO membership provided we withdraw from NATO first and let Europe take care of their regional problem themselves

Much was made of Christy’s comments on Washington’s Farewell Speech.
Obviously, this latest news confirms that Washington was prescient.

We got NO business in NATO and as long as we are in NATO, the Ukranian Nazis got no business in NATO as well.
It also confirms that Christy don’t much about anything other than dollars and donuts which he is either stuffing in his pockets or his mouth.
If the murderous perverts that rule us bring the Ukraine into NATO then, at best, America and Europe is obligated by treaty to fight against Russia and will send troops and it will be World War 3. The death toll will be incalculable and it is likely that nuclear weapons will be used.

The second Ukraine becomes a member of NATO, WWIII begins.
Russia will be at war with the world and their only recourse will be to start using nukes and form an alliance with Iran and China and Cuba.

I could see a situation where a large chunk of the population shrugs their shoulders while 'the View' or 'Morning Joe' squeals "but Russia!" and goes on living their lives a little freer for a time. Granted, it suck, but at least DC parasite free.
And probably a very low tolerance for the likes of Lindsey Graham or (enter any Uke cheerleader here) while they're trying to put their lives back together.

If they join there will be American blood spilled for pure stupidity and if we are very lucky it will only happen in the Ukraine. If any U.S. President, on the eve of Putin’s invasion, had called Putin and told him - invading Ukraine will guarantee the definite approval of NATO membership for Ukraine, then Putin would not have invaded.
Bad enough we are enslaving future American generations with the cost of making some rich over Ukraine but to make them NATO members now and also sacrifice American lives? The NATO members are all useless Euroweenies who are woke to the point of being totally castrated. Inviting Ukraine into NATO will force Russia to use nukes to create a buffer between Western Europe and Russia.
Who would really benefit from this? And who is benefitting from our current involvement in supplying Ukraine with military support so that more and more Russians and Ukrainians end up dying for nothing.
Nobody in this conflict is fighting for Liberty. It is just one corrupt government versus another corrupt government both willing to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of their citizens so that they can continue in power.
In this war there will be no winners, unless your company manufacturers weapons of war.
