A GMA reporter covering San Francisco's Westfield Mall closure has admitted his bosses told him not to appear live from fentanyl-ravaged downtown early in the morning because it was 'too dangerous'.
Chief national news correspondent Matt Gutman told viewers he had been advised against appearing live from Union Square or the mall for ABC's 4am Good Morning America segment on Thursday.
The veteran broadcaster instead reported on the latest in a long series of downtown retail closures from a separate part of the west coast 'zombie city'.
'It is worth mentioning that we are not at Union Square or the Westfield Mall this morning because we have been advised that it's simply too dangerous to be there at this hour,' he told viewers.
Back in the studio, Michael Strahan said Gutman's admission was 'saying a lot'.
Earlier this week, Westfield announced it had defaulted on its half-a-billion loan for the building, and was handing it back to the lender, blaming 'unsafe conditions' and a 'lack of enforcement against rampant criminal activity'.
The folding of San Francisco's biggest mall follows the closure of at least 24 major stores in the area, which is known for its fentanyl epidemic, widespread homelessness and rampant crime - even as it remains home to tech billionaires.
Criminal activity in the area has been on the increase this year - with police data showing a 5 percent rise in robberies, arsons, grand theft autos and homicides in 2023 compared with the same period in 2022.

If one looks at the END GAME of the Democrats, which is the elimination of the white culture, which they blame for the wars of the 20th century and prior, as well as Russia, then everything they do, particularly the open borders, makes PERFECT SENSE.

You have to destroy the old society before you can create a new and better one.
If you go one level up....state-level (Sacramento)...they are motivated to go the same political route (same can be said for LA county itself).
You can make the case that Portland/Seattle have gone the same route, with Washington/Oregon maybe one step behind California state gov’t.
If you go to top twenty urbanized cities...all of them are creating zombie zones, with heavy drug trafficking and people looking the other way. Petty crime is up....with a lot of it marginalized in reports or kept out of statistical counts (not wanting the numbers to reflect a crisis era).
My brother brought up the town near the farm where we grew up (probably 24,000 in population, Ala town). They’ve also gone to allow a zombie zone to be created and exist. Meth, fentanyl, and drug use obviously in use. County sheriff will claim in elections to be GOP....but there’s some type of resistance to enforcing the law. It would appear all of them are resistant to enforcement (the key issue).

Why do boxers "take a dive"? They could 'ruin the company' to make short sellers (more) wealthy.
Actually, it may be intentional. Imagine a cartel of global elites, like the WEF gang purposely destroying large cities to crater property values and allowing crime to flourish. Legit companies all abandon the cities and the cartel swoops in to save the day with $.25 on the dollar offers for the property. Cartel then uses mercenaries to come in and start busting heads and making the bad guys “suddenly leave town.”
The cities suddenly begin to flourish and the cartel sells the properties for 20 times what they paid for them because people are being forced to live in 15 minute cities anyway.
