Within city limits (depends on the city) can be a problem.

Neighbor of mine, cut down 2 redwoods about 50-70 year old because they were taking up space and dropped cones everywhere. Neighbor on the other side freaked because she planted shade plants and they were ruined. Uproar but then it ended after he argued he pays the property taxes not her.

Are we talking the US or Canada? In the US I’d bet that the answer is “no:. Given my many experiences of seeing huge lumber trucks heading south on I-91 in Vermont...all of which have Quebec plates...Canada’s forestry laws might be different.

A giant Sequoia would be your entire yard.

I’ve planted several hundreds of redwoods and harvested hundreds. I really don’t understand the question.

It does not grow like bamboo. It grows a few inches a year.

You can’t cut them down. They have to be logged.

“...Are you allowed to chop down giant sequoia trees...”
-
“Chop” down?
Well, yes but you will wear yourself and many axes out in the process.

Just keep telling everyone its a cypress tree in your yard and its attracting cypress bark beetles and you need to cut it down before they spread. If you already told everyone its a sequoia I can’t help you.

Giant Sequoias are a protected plant species. If you plant one and it falls on your house, would you be able to hear your homeowner insurance company based in Bangor, Maine snickering in their little cubicles?

I read a story about a redwood deck that was being installed at Olivia Newton Johns home and she was asked about the endangered trees. She said the tree had already fallen...

Just like the liberals who take a private jet saying the jet was going their way.
