A Delta flight from JFK to Los Angeles on Saturday made an unscheduled landing in Utah due to technical difficulties — only to have an air slide accidentally deploy inside the plane once it was on the ground.
A crew member was hit unexpectedly by the “exploding” air slide and taken to the hospital.

a sign of the times.
That must have hurt.
Good question. I will ask my son if he has any ideas.
Disturbing since I just flew on Delta last week.
“Delta AL plane has emergency slide accidentally deployed inside the aircraft in Utah”
Probably someone figuring out that the destination of the flight was Denver.
They are supposed to diable and cross check the slides before opening the door unless there is a need to evacuate. My guess is that a couple of folks didn’t do their job. May have realized his or her mistake and tried to close the door once it had opened enough to trigger the device.
Absent real info, that’s my working theory.
I have seen this a few times over the years in comedy bit.
A life raft opens inside room.
Do you think it’s possible, someone may have said, I wonder what this “DO NOT TOUCH” button does, and boom, there it goes? 🤗
I remember a few years back, a flight was preparing to leave Tampa International to Detroit. As the plane was running up the jet engines, one of them shot a flame straight back, but everything was fine. The passengers with a view over and behind the wing panicked and opened the emergency exit door and deployed the air slides out on the tarmac. The flight attendants were nearly injured in the panic.
???PING???
Any ideas ?
“oh snap”
design flaw... should be unpossible
The slide on the aft left door inflated with the door open. On a B-767, the door opens upward and into the ceiling area. It has to be pulled down on to close. Someone may have pulled down on the girt bar, instead of pulling down on the hand hold.
If that happened, then this is an opportunity for better training.
I agree and I believe this incident will lead to just that.
