Ask Asian children who their harshest critics are, and you will invariably get some answer involving mom, dad, or both.
Bad news for Asian-Americans across the United States — they won’t be finding much reprieve from school administrators and staff at the university level.
Look no further than the curious case of 18-year-old Jon Wang, a Florida native sporting some impressive academic marks.
According to Fox News, Wang scored a sterling 1590 out of 1600 on his SAT exam (many Asian parents would probably be mad about him being 10 points short of a perfect score) and earned an eye-popping 4.65 high school GPA, thanks to advanced classes that enable students to achieve GPAs higher than the 4.0 associated with straight A’s.
Given those marks, and the fact that Wang doesn’t appear to have any character or criminal issues, you would think one of the admissions departments at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, California Institute of Technology, Princeton, Harvard, Carnegie Mellon University or the University of California, Berkeley, would give Wang the time of day.
You would think wrong.
Wang told Fox that he was rejected by all of them.
So, what gives? What possible explanation could be provided that would explain why Wang couldn’t make the cut?
Wang has one idea why — and it’s one that he was warned about when he began the application process.
In short, Wang blames the paradoxically named “affirmative action” that is neither affirming nor helpful for his issues.
Wang told Fox that when he began applying for school, his friends and counselors warned that “it’s tougher to get in, especially as an Asian-American.”
Apparently, the color of Wang’s skin color and ethnic background (his parents are both first-generation Chinese immigrants) matters to schools — and not in the “good” way that skin color and ethnicity usually...

Hey Lazy, read the excerpt.
Sheesh.
So much for merit based education
Education today is strictly controlled by skin color
Some good conservative schools should take note and start admitting with a discount all of these smart over achievers, and start a new ivy league
Leftists are racists. Who knew?
I graduated from Berkeley. My major professor was very conservative and anti-Soviet, and a big admirer of Ronald Reagan. He even had a pro-South Africa cartoon on his office door. He already had a reputation as a conservative when he was hired. Czeslaw Milosz was a professor there at the time--I didn't take any classes from him but once saw him on a walk. I had a couple of very left-wing professors but I didn't realize it at the time because their political views were not evident in their seminars.
...and I for one want my doctor who excelled in Gender Studies. My ENT who has since retired got to visiting about socialized medicine and he was a big advocate of it. Told him I wanted my doctor’s driving Porsche’s (he drove one), because if we socialize medicine, the sharp kids will chase the dollars elsewhere.
......And on the other end of that, these elite schools all have large numbers of staff dedicated to keeping their diversity admits from flunking out. Usually by channeling them into majors like creative writing, gender studies, and political studies........
MIT cannot do that!! EVERY student must take and pass some version of Physics 8.01 (classical mechanics)!!!!

MIT should have admitted this Asian student, even if he is a nerd! MIT has been a paradise for nerds, who have done very well there!!!!
What, exactly, is the function of these universities? To provide a refuge for Marxists? To denigrate and destroy our country? To give degrees to mediocre students? There are plenty of people doing good work in these schools, but the dopes who keep brilliant students out aren’t among them.
Didn’t he know? Using SAT scores and high GPA is racist...
All those schools hate Asian Americans. Because ya know they work hard and do well in academics but aren’t football players
They also vote overwhelmingly for Democrats and are not western culturally.
No. That would’ve been a plus
Good on you you rambling wreck. A great school
Yeah but no. Frost gen don’t play that game. Others didn’t get out? That’s on them
He’s probably better off going to a small, non-”elite” school, where the teachers actually teach rather than indoctrinate. He won’t have to declare his pronouns there.
Just the opposite is true: These days, more girls than boys apply to college. Generally speaking, boys tend not to be as interested in college, whereas girls are more inclined to sit still and study.
As a result, many liberal arts colleges today accept a higher percentage of male applicants and reject more female applicants.
On the other hand, more male students choose STEM majors like engineering, so STEM schools tend to have many more male students, and they might admit a larger percentage of female applicants.
I don’t feel sorry at all for this student who didn’t get into Ivy League colleges. I knew homeschooled students with PERFECT SAT scores who were rejected from all the Ivies. These were self-taught students. If the SAT is supposed to be a gold standard, then a self-taught student who scores a perfect score should be considered the most impressive. Yet, those perfect-scoring homeschoolers I knew didn’t run to the media to complain. They simply went to other colleges.
And as the lead up to a sane university system, start with vouchers at the K-12 levels.
In Florida ANY student/parent can ask for their $8,000 per child voucher to spend at any school they want to attend.
A white woman had very high credentials and applied to the University of Texas law school. She was turned down and discovered that a lot of lesser qualified applicants were accepted. Guess the races here. So she got accepted to TCU law, graduated and then sued UT law school. It went to the supreme court. The lawyers for UT law school admitted that they had racial quotas and they were not about to change that.
This guy has a path forward, but he will have to innovate.
Harvard: Sorry, we have enough chinks already. Oops, we mean, unfortunately we can’t find a place for you this semester. Please feel free to apply again and good luck with your search!
It would be interesting to see how these elite universities would react if the kid were Black or Latino. I suspect he would similarly rejected despite his more favored race because he doesn’t fit the narrative of an “authentic” Black or Latino and he somehow benefited from white privilege.
