You can usually tell when an article on a sports topic is written by a rank amateur who knows nothing about the topic he's covering. The term "cut" is not applicable here.
Bass has been designated for assignment under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between MLB and the MLB Players Association. That's simply a formal process that allows the team to take him off their roster and replace him with another player while they figure out what to do with him. They can trade him, demote him to the minors (which may not be allowed, at his age), or release him outright. In any case, the team must still pay him through the remainder of his contract unless another team picks him up.
My understanding is that his contract expires after this season, so it's not like the team is losing a lot of money here. And he seems to be a marginal relief pitcher at this stage of his career.

The pitcher was scheduled to catch a “healing” ceremonial first pitch from an LGBT activist before Friday’s home game against the Minnesota Twins and during its “Pride Weekend,” Fox News reported. Good thing they saved him from this embarrassment. This sounds more homosexual and stupid than Bette Davis Night at the Cubbyhole in the West Village of New York City.

He’s always been a marginal pitcher, even for a reliever. He’s over 35, and has made millions in his career. How many can say the same at his level?

I went to 3 games last year. None so far this year. I was eyeing a couple of games. They are dead to me now. So they lost me for those and any going forward. They like the rest of MLB had done some of this maybe 10 or 15 years ago but it was limited to maybe one game in June a year. Easily avoidable. This action crosses another line. I never watch the games anymore on tv and just checked the scores. This may put an end to even that.

3.78 ERA & 16-28 W/L record, replaced him with a dude with a 4.78 ERA and a 3-10 W/L record.
I'm glad that Jack Morris cured me of baseball all those years ago.

He definitely looks marginal by the numbers, but he had a good year last season with a sub-2.00 ERA over 70+ relief appearances. The team had the $3M option for his contract this season, and they exercised it.
At his age he’s running on momentum.

That would be a violation of civil rights laws in the US. Since he was playing for a Toronto team, though, he might not have an legal recourse.

When the crowd decides to boo a player for his thoughts on moral matters, it is time to reconsider what this society has become.
The reason for the booing is that the populace has had, “Pride in abominable acts,” crammed down their throats by the faggots, lesbos and other evil folks for too long without a pushback from the regular folks.
Let’s. begin fighting the Fags and those queers that are attempting to teach our children the ways of evil!
THERE IS NO PRIDE IN SIN. HOMO LOVE IS SIN, STOP IT!

I am not happy that Mr. Bass is "punished" for expressing his opinion...But, Blue Jays does have a right to get rid of any player that it does not want...The team is not violating any union agreement by designating Mr. Bass for assignment...
By the way, the ERA for Mr. Bass...This season...4.95...That is not a good ERA for a pitcher...https://www.mlb.com/player/anthony-bass-542914

Never apologize.Exactly. Never apologize to those people. They are wrong. Apologizing just encourages more tyrannical behavior from them.
