To observe National Chocolate Ice Cream Day on June 7th all you need is chocolate ice cream. Who says you have to stop there, though? You can have it in a cone or make it from scratch. Add sprinkles or syrup or whipped cream.

Chocolate ice cream is the second most common flavor, surpassed only by vanilla. The chocolate-flavored ice cream has been in existence well over a hundred years and has been popular in the United States since the late 19th century.

Cocoa powder is blended in with eggs, cream, vanilla, and sugar to make chocolate ice cream. The cocoa powder is what gives the ice cream a brown color. Other flavors, such as rocky road or triple chocolate chunk, use chocolate ice cream in their creation.

While you can enjoy this day with a scoop or two, you could also explore the variety of chocolate ice creams available, too. “How many kinds of chocolate ice cream can there be?” you might ask. Well, you might be surprised. For starters, of course, there’s dark chocolate and milk chocolate. But then we can add peanut butter or marshmallow. We just recently celebrated Rocky Road. Haagen-Dazs has the best chocolate ice cream. It hurts me to buy it when a pint of that costs the same as a half gallon of the other brands, but man, for the chocolate it’s still worth it.

I’m probably one of the very few who really don’t find chocolate ice cream all that appealing.

To my taste buds chocolate ice cream is bitter. If I order a custom made malt I ask for 2 scoops of vanilla to 1 of chocolate. That makes it perfect.

So you probably can guess - I don’t do dark chocolate either.

I have similar reaction to the bitterness of coffee (don’t drink it) and even beer (drink it occasionally).

My wife doesn’t like chocolate milkshakes or ice cream, but loves chocolate candies like Snickers, Hersheys etc...................

I love chocolate ice cream...The best place for ice cream according to experts is Penn Stat, but to me UConn Diary Barn is great, too...

Chocolate is the flavor most commonly made from milk on the verge of going sour. I would not touch it and that has been the case for a quarter of a century.

I have/had friends who worked in dairy plants for years. They would not partake of chocolate at all.
