Damn - the bear came back to check to see if the guy was OK and everybody’s like “Oh! Bear!” Some days you just can’t be a Good Samaritan.

“Did I ever tell you about the time I kissed a bear? Hey, buy a beer and I’ll tell you all about it.”

Did the bear have any injuries?

The thought of a hurt bear with no treatment is unbearable.

Was the fact that the guy who stayed behind was riding an e-bike important to highlight? He could’ve been riding a big wheel, which definitely would make the story more interesting.

This happened to my brother twenty years ago in California. Bounced off a grizzly on his mt. bike. Rather than eat him as he lay on the ground, the bear got in his face, huffed, and then launched itself UP the 8 foot embankment in a way that was gravity defying for such a large beastie.

Maybe by brother smelled bad. At least that's the theory I stick to him whenever the subject comes up.

Vancouver is notorious for bear. So is Wyoming.

I have ran into a couple three. One was doing his business, it was fresh and smelly. It ran like a scared kitten.

Canadian man T-boned a black bear while biking through a conservation reserve

Black bears are very timid and very rarely attack humans (even moms with cubs). Butterflies and ants scare these creatures. The black bear was terrified of the biker. Grizzly bears on the other hand...

This is exactly what happened to a boyfriend of mine when he was getting his PhD in Alberta Canada. He was mountain biking down the side of a mountain (he was GONZO) and hit a bear. Had to be airlifted to a hospital, and woke up six months later. Had a serious TBI— but still went on to earn his PhD in Geology and now works for an oil company or something.

He was wearing a helmet, too. But not a bear proof one, I guess.

“I pretty much kissed the bear and then I guess I flew through the air.”

Sounds like the makings of a country song

“The bear started eating grass”.

He hit a cow.

Another filthy, stinking, drug-addled hippie crashing into livestock.

Having seen a HUMAN smashed into and badly injured by one of these out-of-control off-road bicyclists, I have no sympathy whatsoever for this lunatic. Shame the bear didn’t eat him.
