The collapse of Russian influence is widening
Yahoo ^ | 18 May 2023 | Mark Toth

As Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “special military operation” continues its downward spiral in Ukraine, the future of Russian-occupied or dominated territories is becoming a subject of interest, beginning with Kaliningrad.

...Moldova took what could be the first step on May 15, when Igor Grosu, President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, announced Moldova was formally withdrawing from the Commonwealth of Independent States interparliamentary assembly — the Russian equivalent of the British Commonwealth

...In a worst-case scenario, if you were to overlay the domino theory of U.S. Cold War policy, substituting “getting out from underneath Russian oppression” for “the spread of communism, Russia could experience another event akin to the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989. That original event led to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. If Russia cannot keep its occupied territories in line, what would it mean for the Russian-led Collective Security Treaty Organization, which currently includes Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, and Tajikistan? Sensing weakness as a result of Russia’s failures in Ukraine, will these other peripheral countries continue to stand by the Kremlin?

“Effing neocon morons. Incompetence in spades.”

Considering that many of the Neocons were Marxists in their younger days, and literally ALL of the Democrats now running this war for the US spent their younger days HATING America, and considering that these same people did NOTHING at all to prepare this country for war...

...one has to wonder whether their REAL GOAL was to see America lose on the battlefield, and hence no longer be seen as a credible world power. After all, that is EXACTLY what they were trying to do during the Cold War.

So, given the above, perhaps they’re not as incompetent as they appear?

What about the collapse of American influence around the world? Is this article supposed to make us feel better about Biden's destruction of our country? The Russian economy seems to be doing ok. Ours is heading for more problems thanks to Biden's policies. Yahoo should write an article about America's problems under a corrupt old moron.

"Putin has placed Russia in a no-win dilemma."

Biden has placed the U.S. in a no-win dilemma.

The “I” in BRICS is for India. Will show them for trying to cut the US out of their deals. We will kick all the BRICS adherents out of SWIFT.

Some of these neocons like Blinken & Nuland have ancestral connections to Ukraine & Poland and they’ve always had a hard on to take Russia down. I just hope that pinhead Blinken doesn’t get us into a nuclear war over this. We don’t even know who is making these big decisions behind the scenes. The neocons are reckless and crazy and ALWAYS WRONG.

Sounds like more projection to me. It’s us, thanks to Biden, that are losing influence. American hegemony is dying. BRICS is rising and de-dollarization is occurring because of our bullying foreign policy that alienated the majority of the world.

Possibly true. But I was referring more to the stupidity of liberals who pass laws that have huge gaping loopholes in them. Then they whine about it.

The private sector is always smarter than the govt.

Your link is for OIL exports no mention of gas.
FROM YOUR LINK;
“The revenue is still down 43% from a year ago, the IEA said,as Russia is forced to sell its barrels to a more limited pool of customers who can negotiate greater discounts”

Yes China and India are buying CHEAP at a major discount.and at the same time selling DEAR, the clever bastards!
That is called arbitrage.
The more China and India sell the lower the world price, as supply may exceed demand.

And just for fun China and India are paying Russia in Yuan and Rupees!!! Not at all good for Russia.

A fair question.
Time will tell.

Most analysts believe Russia is very close to its break-even point on oil sales. Reducing flow on an oil well is NOT a good practice.

“Yes China and India are buying CHEAP at a major discount.”

Then why did Japan DEMAND to be allowed to pay more than the price cap for their Russian oil?

But nice try!!!

You didn’t really post a source -it’s actually an opinion piece, not ‘news’ and it’s from The Hill, yahoo is just displaying it.

There’s no water and electricity for many regions now - yes I’d be surprised to see women and children moving back into collapsed homes or homes without heat/light/water etc.

—”Then why did Japan DEMAND to be allowed to pay more than the price cap for their Russian oil?”

Japan persuaded the US to make the exception, claiming that it was necessary to ensure access to Russian energy. The concession demonstrates Japan’s reliance on Russia for fossil fuels

80 % of Japan’s oil comes from the USA.

You may have noticed that Japan has some ongoing problems with its nuclear power generation.
