The attorney for the New York City nurse at the center of a viral bicycle dispute said his client is "in hiding" because her life and job are being threatened over the encounter.

The attorney says he is preparing lawsuits, saying there's "no question" some outlets defamed his client.

That was my take when the Tawana Brawley fiasco reared it's ugly head. Though a glaring red flag popped up when she claimed she was raped in the back of a Wappingers Falls,NY patrol car. The Wappingers Falls PD, like the NYPD, Chicago PD and many law enforcement agencies in the US and Canada at that time were using Dodge Diplomats. Most cops liked them for their handling and performance but a common complaint was the lack of room, especially with all the police equipment crammed into them. The back seats in particular barely had enough room for hauling suspects around let alone doing the you know what. I'm surprised the ACLU never filed complaints about them

A couple of somebodys are trying really, really hard to whip up mass anger over this woman having a disagreement over a bike with a guy. It’s supposed to be a big deal since she’s white and he’s black. Big Deal! This has been talked about for the last two weeks.

Now we know what happened. This pregnant white woman reserved a rental bike, and as she was removing it a black man thieved it. Before we knew which of the people was the thief these two news commentators said that the woman was the thief, and is a racist for insinuating that the black man was the thief.

The woman’s lawyer shows up with proof that the woman paid for the bike, and that the black man was the thief. However, the only action being taken is threatening the news outlet with a lawsuit. Hello? What about criminally charging the black thief with theft?

The glorious unintended consequence of the left hyping any alleged “racist” incident into the stratosphere is that when (as is almost always the case) it turns out that the white person involved was actually the victim, the damages that the victim should receive for being slandered or libeled should be astronomical. The left has made being called a “racist” the worst thing you can possibly be accused of being, with very real social and financial injuries that can be life-long. The penalties for falsely accusing someone of being a racist should therefore be just as severe.
