However, when you're a busy person, it's just not possible to spend every waking moment looking after a rambunctious dog or cuddly cat. That doesn't mean you don't deserve to bring an animal into your home—you just have to find the right one. Some pets need less grooming and attention, while many are simply cheaper to own. So whether you're looking for something that makes sense for your kids, for your busy lifestyle, or for the limitations of your apartment, experts say these are the most low-maintenance pets you should consider taking home.

Really? A rat as a pet. These people are sick.
They also mention tarantulas, scorpions, and hermit crabs, as "good" pets

What about bacteria or yeast?
To: EvilCapitalist
Indeed, or at least a pet rock.

Nothing wrong with rats as pets. These aren’t the Norwegian browns that are the bane of the civilized world. There’s all kinds of other breeds, many of which are really cool. I wouldn’t do scorpions. But tarantulas and crabs. Sure. The whole “terrarium pet” thing, small, self contained, easy to clean up after, don’t chew up your stuff. Nothing wrong with them. Especially for apartment dweller.

Sasquatch: They feed themselves, sometimes leave you a chunk of deer, and do all kinds of chores - moving large stones, Turing pesky trees upside down, scaring Reddit authors out of your woods...

I ran this article past my cat. She says that I make a good pet for her.
I can’t decide if that’s a compliment or not.

A lot of these pets are exotics that require knowledge and money to care for properly. Also being able to tell when they aren’t doing well and responding to it quickly, as many can die withing 24 hours of developing a problem.

Which is why my suggestion of a pet brick is the best. Just make sure you don’t trip over it.

Cats and women are both very high maintenance (not saying women are pets, just that both can be very high maintenance).
That said, both are worth every penny!
