Really? A rat as a pet. These people are sick.

They also mention tarantulas, scorpions, and hermit crabs, as "good" pets

Nothing wrong with rats as pets. These aren’t the Norwegian browns that are the bane of the civilized world. There’s all kinds of other breeds, many of which are really cool. I wouldn’t do scorpions. But tarantulas and crabs. Sure. The whole “terrarium pet” thing, small, self contained, easy to clean up after, don’t chew up your stuff. Nothing wrong with them. Especially for apartment dweller.

Sasquatch: They feed themselves, sometimes leave you a chunk of deer, and do all kinds of chores - moving large stones, Turing pesky trees upside down, scaring Reddit authors out of your woods...

I ran this article past my cat. She says that I make a good pet for her.
I can’t decide if that’s a compliment or not.

A lot of these pets are exotics that require knowledge and money to care for properly. Also being able to tell when they aren’t doing well and responding to it quickly, as many can die withing 24 hours of developing a problem.

Which is why my suggestion of a pet brick is the best. Just make sure you don’t trip over it.

Cats and women are both very high maintenance (not saying women are pets, just that both can be very high maintenance).

That said, both are worth every penny!
