Argentina Is Collapsing Again...Again!
American Thinker ^ | 18 May, 2023 | Mike Konrad

This should be the perfect country. And yet it's a total basket case.

Warning: Before reading this, one should play this tango. It will set the mood.

Argentina is on the verge of economic collapse again...for the umpteenth time.

How does Argentina do it? I mean, for quite some time, I have been utterly amazed at how Argentina manages to fall on its face. And it has done so for over a century.

On paper, Argentina should be the richest, most productive nation on the planet.

– 45 million people in a large country, roughly half the size of the continental United States (the lower 48). It is underpopulated and could safely absorb millions — who would gladly come — if the country were run correctly.

– Argentina has the pampas, the best grain-growing region on the planet. Unlike America's grain belt, much of the pampas is subtropical with an extended growing season. Think of Kansas with better weather.

– Argentina is a major exporter of food. Has been for over a century. Kept Britain fed during World War II.

– The country has no overseas empire to subsidize. No wasteful wars. No trillions sunk in other countries.

Political culture matters.

I read a white paper from the old IMF which documented the number of times Argentina defaulted on its debt throughout the 20th century. Given that EACH time, new investors showed up eventually and were lured in, one may argue it is rational for the Argentinian governments )plural) to have done this. Screw over some investors, and then wait for the next crop. Rinse. Repeat.

>>The population is majority European in ancestry: about 50% Spanish, 50% Italian,

The problem is cultural.

Yup. Argentina has had good political culture and prospered, and Argentina has had bad political culture and suffered. But they don’t learn and they keep abandoning good political culture. And the US is following that path too.

Add to that the German influence. There’s a reason the Nazis fled there.

Joe Biden is to America what Peron was to Argentina, the trigger for massive national decline.

Brazil. That is where we are headed. If we are lucky. Venezuela if we are not.

The reason Argentina is a failed state is because it is filled with Argentinians.

Same reason Africa is a basket case, because it is filled with Africans.

With God all things are possible.

Without God....it’s all death and taxes. We cannot be God period.

They need a revival of revivals and they’d be thriving in their abundance. Hopefully we’ll beat them to it!

Agree, Argentina is the ROLE MODEL for the Democrats, but who cares, my Senator is a RINO and so I’ll sit out the next election and let the Democrat win!

(sadly, many here agree with the above)

“Argentina is home to 9% of the world’s total [lithium] reserves — “

You have to wonder, how much outside influence/interference might be involved here. I’m not speaking historically, but now. Follow the money. ‘Someone’ probably has a motive to see Argentina in turmoil.

Divide and conquer. I personally think it’s happening here too. A lot of people here are commenting on culture. I think it’s been the long game of outside influences to destroy the culture here, and now we are in the division stages.

Wrong. The Catholic Church built Western Civilization… somehow it just misfired here? Argentina is a major hub of Liberation Theology… Christian Socialism. The problem is the same in Argentina as it is everywhere else in the world… leftists.
