Hang on to Your Wallets, NYC — Here Comes the $29 Hot Dog
New York Post ^ | 5/4 | Steve Cuozzo

Heard the one about the $29 hot dog?

Big eaters in the Big Apple have become accustomed to paying more for almost everything, but the wildly priced wiener at Alex Stupak’s lively new Mischa at the Citicorp Center is on another level.

Mischa’s mighty mongrel is easily the city’s top-priced, restaurant menu tube steak, aside from occasional $2,000 stunts with truffles and foie gras.

This dog howls for media attention, particularly at a time when the cost of going out — or eating, in general — is through the roof.

People who eat hot dogs with a knife and fork probably do the same with pizzas.

Hot dog and a drink at Sam’s Club, less than two bucks.

NYC is insane.

Next, they'll probably come out with a hot dog dining etiquette book - "Well-Bred Wienering".   (Hmmmmm....which fork do I use?)

George Constanza eats his candy bars with a fork and knife. That’s because he’s more refined than the rest of us.

“Big eaters in the Big Apple have become accustomed to paying more”

Because they are dumber than a box of rocks.

I remember when they advertised the six dollar burger while W. Bush was in office. Prophecy.

Give me a couple of James Coney dogs all the way and some chili-cheese fries with a drink from JCI in Houston for under $10 any day. (Unless the drink is a beer. Then it’s a couple bucks more.)

And it’s a quarter-pound hot dog to boot.

$29 for a hot dog? I remember I was at a trade show in Chicago and the hot dog at McCormick Center was $15. No thanks, I’ll get a package of Angus Beef hot dog for $6.50. Much cheaper..

At this point, I would willingly pay $29.00 for a hot dog.

Last week my wife and I were at Costco. I purchased a package of hot dogs. I think I ate three of them before my wife decided the hot dogs were spoiled and without saying a word to me tossed them into the garbage can which was already out on the street for pick up. When I decided to have a hot dog, I would not find them. My wife then told me she tossed them because they were bad and the preservatives are bad for me.

My wife has this crazy idea that best if used by dates mean that one should not eat whatever is in the package. She also eats too many carbohydrates and has ballooned from 110 pounds to 330 pounds.

We eat almost no protein. To get protein I have to leave the house and order something with protein in it. Her general practitioner sent her to a nutritionist. She went but they ranted and raved for days. She switched doctors.

Despite being diabetic she eats carbs and sugary treats even though she checks the carbs and sugar content of packaged foods.

She simply does not listen to valid medical advice. She is forever looking for the magic cure for all that ails her, but when a doctor tells her what she must do, she rejects the advice and later lies to the doctor about how she is religiously following the advice he gave her.

And I cannot eat what I need to eat to stay healthy without going out of the house to eat.

Heck. That’s everywhere. A food truck “Fish and Chips” with 3 pieces of cod cost my $24. A burger anywhere in town is well over $25.

Way to go Biden.

“does it come with a steak on the side?”

It is New York. No extra steak but the feces smell is free.
