Weight Loss Jab Wegovy Delayed Amid Concern NHS Supplies Can’t Meet Demand
MSN ^

Plans to launch a “game-changing” weight loss jab in the UK have been delayed amid concern supplies could not keep up with demand from obese Britons.

Weight loss services and pharmacists were expecting Wegovy to become available this week but have now been warned of an indefinite delay making the product available.

The weekly injections had already been backed by the NHS, with the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) recently recommending the drug for tens of thousands of people, and millions more expected to seek it privately. Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer, said it was working to make the drug available “as soon as possible” but would give no indication when this might be.

For those of you in Rio Linda, Wegovy is the same drug, semaglutide, that is also sold as Ozempic. I think the idea is that the Ozempic will be marketed to diabetics, while Wegovy is marketed towards the obese.

But there may not be enough for both groups.

But a lot of celebrities have been using it. But these celebrities mostly aren't obese, so technically, they shouldn't be getting it, according to the standard of care.

Eating less, drinking less, and exercise works, even if it is just walking.

If you want to try low dose naltrexone for autoimmune issues or cancer you can ask your doctor for it to try to lose weight. of course, if you have cancer that is probably not going to apply to you since you are probably already losing weight.

It does work.

Exercise and diet does not work because . . . it doesn’t matter what the because is. People don’t lose weight that way.

This drug is approved only for certain situations, one of which is BMI 30+. Another is less than 30+ but with other conditions like hypertension.

So the injection happens. Weekly. Big $$$ and insurance doesn’t cover it for most casual users, and if it did, everyone’s premium is going up.

The best part of it, for the drug companies . . . if the injection stops, the weight returns very quickly.

Either STOP Eating so frikkin much, Change your diet or develop a serious Cocaine Habit. All 3 will work

I grew up in the 60’s and early 70’s, there were NO FAT PEOPLE to speak of, very few. Besides your eating habits, what has changed? or is this one of the many hazards caused by Climate Change?

You are so full of it.

It works. People don't want to put forth the effort.

I grew up in the 60’s and early 70’s, there were NO FAT PEOPLE to speak of, very few.

I remember being so disgusted as a kid about how fat Jackie Gleason was. I though that kind of fat was just gross.

Recently I saw an old clip from one of the Honeymooners, and from today's perspective, he isn't all that obese.

I thought the contrast was interesting. I really gave me a good idea about how rare that kind of fat was in those days.

Besides your eating habits, what has changed?

The FDA's restructuring the food pyramid and encouraging people to eat more carbs.

Fast food. Eating out. Convenience foods and microwaves.

People spending more time in front of the screen, both TV and computer.

People not getting up and moving and doing things like mowing their own lawns and doing their own yardwork, hanging out laundry, tending a garden, not living in small towns where they could walk places instead of always needing to take a car.

I'm glad it works for you, but it doesn't work for a lot of people hence the reason these medications are in such high demand. Everybody's body is different. If it was as easy as a lot of people think then 40% of the U.S. wouldn't be obese. I can guarantee that no one chooses to be obese. It's not like people just haven't heard the revelation to just eat less and exercise, pretty much every fat person out there had tried to diet multiple times and failed.

These medications work and if someone wants to spend their money to buy them to improve their life then that's exactly what they should do. Someone who has heartburn about that should shove it.

Yes, at 50 mg. Low Dose Naltrexone is used off label for a multitude of things depending on how your doctor cooperates.

Often used with Wellbutrin for weight loss but I don’t take the Wellbutrin part. I am losing weight but am using it for autoimmune issues. I chop up the pill. It is better to use a compounding pharmacy to get even dosing but havent done that yet

also, one more thing LDN is helping for me is psoriasis. however, I don’t have it all over my body so no idea if it would help someone who has a bad case.

Same thing.

It doesn’t matter why it doesn’t work. If a person arrives at a hospital with body mangled from a rock climbing accident, treatment is not refused because that problem is behavior related.

Nor is treatment refused to obese people because of their behavior.
